Ive once tried melting chocolate in a microwave...put it on high power for 5 minutes and when it came out it was burnt, the smell was sick, the colour was sick, there was chocolate everywhere. And even the plastic cup which i put it in had melted

putting a plastic cub into a microwave is really an act of intelligence..

An ex of mine tried cooking a jacket potato in the microwave, as per the manufacturers cookbook, it said "Stab over the potato with a fork.", "wrap in cling film", "place in the Microwave and cook on full power for 4 minutes". The silly mare set the time wrong and left it in there, for 45 minutes whilst she was gabbing on the phone to her mate. All that was left was a small piece of black stuff that resembled charcoal. The kitchen was full of smoke, big black stains all up the walls and the inside of the microwave was completely covered in soot about 5mm thick. So unfortunately it had to go, the girlfriend that is, not the microwave. I cleaned that up and it worked perfectly for about the next ten years, which was more than I could say for her. Women and technology eh? Jeez !!!

When I was a kid and we got our first microwave, the very first thing I tried cooking was a hot dog...not knowing they only take about 30 seconds to a minute, I set the thing for 3 and 1/2 minutes. The result was a rock hard hot dog bun and a piece of meat-by-product chalk. I even did some doodling on the back patio with it!
