View Full Version : A middle of the night blues noodle

For the techy minded of you, the solo is played on my USA Hot Rodded Texas Fat Strat, using predominately the bridge Seymour Duncan humbucker. The tone comes from my Boss GT6, one of inbuilt patches called "crying". This is DI to PC using the SPDIF (Coaxial Digital) ouput into my Sounblaster Platinum "Live" drive. The pick used was a Gibson Medium. Strings are D'Addorio XL's 9-42's. The video was recorded using a Plustek M1 USB webcam.

I would also like to thank Nescafe for their help and assistance in allowing me to bring this to you :-)

If you need any more information than that, then I would suggest your need to consult your medical practioner, as it would seem that your Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is getting out of hand again. :-)

And remember kids for best effect "listen using headphones", it may look nerdy, but it sounds cool .......and don't forget "the space between the notes is just as important as the notes themselves" .................. cheers guys

So true what you said though the space between notes as important as the notes themselves...it leads what technically is known as "feel". A bazillion notes per minute just makes me feel sick!

Here's me thinking you would appreciate all the techy stuff ........ and you notice two pens in me pocket ......... :wall: . I do see what you mean though, not very "Rock God" :-)

AGHHH I see that techy stuff was for me right down to pick type and strings cool, just like to know where the tone is comming from dude are you gonna join in your jam too?

I will indeed, havie finished work for christmas now, so all being well should have time today, if nobody else dives in. Wouldn't want to get killed in the rush. Is it me or does there seem to be a lack of takers on this one ?

I was thinking that, nice track to thought rick and zombo mite have jumped in and farley too. Could all be to busy!!

Farl isn't about over christmas ........ has some things to do. As for the others .......... well, I guess it's a busy time for everyone at the moment.

Oh yeh Neal you got the blues alright loved watching you I have heard you often!
But it is interesting to see where you are playing thought it was superb you have such great feel and great co-ordination I bet that was add lib all of it !!!

It was indeed "ad lib" as you say, not an idea of what I was going to play, til I started playing it. All you younger guys out there should try doing this ..... it's surprising what comes out sometimes.

When you are learning and practising all those scales, you sometimes miss or dont sound a note correctly, they all end up stuck inside your head you know, ruuning around looking for a place to go, well they have to go somewhere !! This is a good way of using them up, all those spare notes, collect them up, and you throw them together and voila , a solo :lol:

Try it at home kids .........

Very cool Neal. Interesting that you were not locked into "box shapes" and there was alot of sliding around the neck...something we should all be following and not get stuck into the box shape rut. Think it would be cool neal if you did some Zombo style lessons in the New Year.

just got the vid to work. wouldn't go earlier.Anyway , that was really good, right up my bluesey street, more of that please.

Thanks bigdoug , I didn't realise there were probs with the vid, but I just tested it on another PC and it does take a while to load. But hey, thanks for hanging in there and giving it a view and for the positive feedback too ....... as for for more? I certainly give it a go.

Zappa , I really dont know what your problem is about getting up at TEGAS to play , the vid is great , just get a coupe of the guys to do some blues backing for you and get up and DO IT. It aint like your lacking the talent m8.

Thanks mate much appreciate the comments. I have to say that posting my noodles on here and getting the postive feedback is giving me more confidence. So watch this space. You may even see me paying a vsist to one of the Hinckley TEGAS nights very soon. :thumb:

Cheers Rick, with all the encouragement how could I not. After the way you have all made me feel so welcome here over the last few months it would feel like I'd let all of you down. So nerves or not, the time has come, I think, to step into the spotlight once again. Ah stardom here I come ....... :lol: !!! This week faceless internet blues jammer, next week ROCK GOD !! :lol:
