I am in the middle of building a Telecaster, and I suppose I shall post some pictures of my progress.
Here is the glued plank and then the cut out body:

I ordered a Warmoth neck:

The wood I used is Cherry. The plank was $55 unglued, which was the most expensive the exotic wood store had. If you can tell, it has birdseye and flame/quilt figuring scattered across the surface, giving it a very unique look.
The neck is high grade flamed maple. In the picture, it looks quilted, but its actually one of the most beautiful flames I have ever seen. That cost $272. I just recently cut out the neck pocket, and ordered the parts. Most of the hardware is chrome from Warmoth, and the bridge is from Callaham. $75 bucks just for the bridge :nervous:

Thanks,

Alec

Nice...good to see it coming along. Keep us posted over here...can't view over on JS anylonger ;)

I recently found a template set for PRS guitars. I'm contemplating putting off a Mesa Single Recto for the sheer joy of building my own killer guitar :)

What tools did you use to cut the body? Did you use a home made template?

I used a bandsaw to cut out the body, and for the template, I just traced my Tele. You should look into getting one of those PRS hollowbody templates. Those things are awesome, and they are not made like regular archtops.

nice munga:thumb: don't worry that $75 will be the best you've ever spent. Callaham is the only way to go. I also have a warmoth neck on the tele copy I built.

That thing looks awesome, Buck. I love the aging on that thing.

Looks like a solid template to me!

I got the wood from a local store. I would suggest going onto www.projectguitar.com and searching through the resource links to get a good taste of the wood costs. I wanna build on of those, but the piece of flamed maple I want to use costs about 150. Haha. I would say the hardest part of that whole deal would be the inlays.

That and what I would want to do with the electronics. Variax...:)

I got the Idea from this guy long....long...ago. I think the Variax electronics alone are going to cost a bundle! Thanks for the link!
