zombo
07-03-2006, 03:33 PM
I was giving things a lot of thought and recently there have been many proffesionals on our forum and you may have been a bit hesitant to get involved !
Well don't worry this is for you lads I will sort out the playing order I am naughty but I did start this one already thats why its called the Zombo challenge by the way!
Its not about who is the best but this jam is for the lads not the heavyweight guitar slingers so please get involved and if this works out I will do it in the future!!
Sorry about not thinking of you before my apologies Zombo
zombo a wise head on an old guys shoulders

Funny I was thinking just the same thing. Most people here can play pretty well and I always think that I might be spoiling a good jam. I was actually going to suggest a novice jam, so it would be rude of me not to have a go at this one.

Cheers Zombo, downloaded the BT earlier, sounds great for a jam! I have to help run a talent show for high school students tomorrow night (my god some of them are gifted!) so I'm afraid that it'll be Thursday night until I can post! but.... that'll give everyone an extra night to practise!! LOL

Thanks John, I actually had a hard time figuring out what to play since the lads here raised the bar by playing tremendously before me. I don't have many choices when it comes to effects, I've got an old Digitec RP50 lol. I was gonna get my whawha in there but I can't find the power supply and I'm too cheap to buy a 9v battery haha. Maybe I'll get one on payday (monthly!!!)

Thanks Farl, by the way your spot was inspiratational and made me re-think what I played. it's great to hear how other people play blues, I think blues is a very personal thing in that playing styles are made of how we feel at the time.
Everyone here has definately improved in the time I have been at 6string which is bloody good news and is what's keeping the forum active. This is a great community of guitarists and I find inspiration and motivation from everyone I listen too, especially if I notice improvements.
End Of Mumblings..

I have been trying to do this and cant get it to work either mate. Have tried ini's suggestion but it just bomb's out with an error "the operation failed", This is the first time I have tried doing this, I have done some recordings with it, but as yet had never tried to export them, now it seems like I never will, lol. Think I will stick to Cakewalk, much better interface, it's a lot easier to get to grips with are far more intuitive.
you have to select your whole audio date in cubase with these little arrows,
so it will mark in a blue box.
After that, click on File -> Export -> Audio Mixdown, then select your disired file format and settings and it should work..

It depends on you conversion to mp3 format from wave ?
I use adobe audition and export to mp3 pro your wave size should be around 50mb and your mp3 size should be around 4.5mb??
cheers Farl as you have said it is all about getting your confidence... I still ain't entirely happy with it but when you listen back you think well at least there were some bits to be proud of and yes it is the start...I should have a bit more time to sit down and play more and had an idea of several things to record so i'll get off and get practicing.

You have made 6Stringheaven history Stew you did just great bud!!
it's been saved using mp3pro vbr 80kbps which is fine it equates to about 128kbps standard mp3 but its also been saved at 22khz this is why it lacks punch it needs re saving at 44khz.
playing sounded cool though! if you can resave it stew then i'll bung a bit on!!!

Maybe I'm using a newer version (I use SX3), but I can mix down to mp3 right inside Cubase, without having to use any other program...can you not do that with the Cubase you're using?
if you could just convert it at 128kbps or mp3pro 80 vbr

here is amended file Rick....don't listen to all that Zombo says he had me doing all sorts of exporting and importing when i should have just mixed it down in Cubase LOL.

Ah it has to do with your input settings for recording, make sure you have mic selected and not stereo mix

Stew
I guess the setting was wrong before you hit record here Stew. The input must have been set to "what you hear" or "wave" in the windows mixer. The only way to eliminate it now is to re-record the guitar with the correct input set, or to just select your recorded track as the selection for the export. The latter is probably the easiest to do now. But I would suggest you just leave it now and I am sure we can live with it.
BTW mate cool bit of playing mate. I hadnt forgotten that you took part in one of the chrimbo jams, but it's great to see you getting the confidence to have another go. :thumb: mate.
