These are a few clips of Mark Tremonti, formerly of Creed, currently with his new band Alter Bridge. Showing some of his favorite warmups and such. He gets ripped on because he didnt get to showcase his talents in Creed since that arrogant bastard Scott Stapp didnt want anyone to overshadow him. But he definately has skills!

Yeah, good point. That don't make his fingers go fast though.

no, but being taught how to minimize movement while maximizing speed and efficiency, that's what it's all about

Actually I think it's more about practicing, regardless of who you are, or whom has taught you.

yea...i know that you gotta practice...but if you practice bad technique...you wont get anywhere...it's like golf...practicing a bad swing leaves you with a bad swing...regardless of how often/how long you practice...

Right on, but I guess my point is practicing good technique doesn't have any thing to do with how fast he is. That's practice period. He could practice piss ass technique and be fast at it.

true...but i imagine that good technique will allow you to be faster than bad technique. He could be fast in bad technique, but upon learning a better technique, it could take it to a whole new level. I guess it's a paradox in a way.

I got slow chubby fingers I practice lots of ways to get them faster sometimes the wife lets me practice on her...........Rowwwwwwwwwwwr!
But seriously just keep at it they'll speed up eventually but then look at Clapton,Gilmour, and a few others like that they ain't fast but there good
Yeah this guy is a great guitarist. I got the issue of Total Guitar when it had all of these licks in and the videos.
Also Mark Tremonti and Michael Angelo Batio are like best mates. Tremonti has appeared on a few Batio songs.

I know tremonti well, but i dont really understand why is he underrated? i mean like, the band iant hitting it big, so ofcourse nobody heard of such a guy, there is nothing underated here.......... there are lots ofbed room shreders who play equally as good, but no body calls them underated........................ or maybe im just mixing things up

yea indeed, having your own signature PRS is something that only a few guitarist have (santana) and i dont know any1 else........
So, it can be said, good guitarist, but he aint underated

i said he's underrated because on any other forum i've been too...people say "Tremonti sucks", "Creed is terrible" and all this other stuff. Like I said, Stapp wouldnt let him let loose, shred, and take any lime light from him and that's why people dont think he's as good as he really is...

If u visit forums were main music is Punk, ofcourse tremonti sucks..... cause i think Punk sucks (green day, Blink 182, Sum 41) all of this is crap, but Tremonti is definately not underated in the type of music he plays, he is an awesome shreder, and people that understand what shreding is will agree.......... just like i (maybe) under estimate every punk guitarist....... an underestimated guitarist is Brian May, cause he plays Rock and people that listen to rock dont like him(not every1)........

actually, Jam Session, where I was one a part of, is pretty diverse, punks, metalheads, classic rockers, but most of them had preconcieved notions of Tremonti from his Creed days. It's wierd. But yes...alotta of people dont like modern punk. I like it more for it's pace and for the fun factor (playing it nice and loud in your car on a summer day with the windows down and such) but there are some punk guitarists that are very talented. Dave Baksh is a very talented metal guitarist. But most people wouldnt give it a listen because of their dislike for the genre he's in. I've pretty diverse in my musical tastes...I tend to like anything but country, bluegrass, or classical.
