Im IN , this is some kind scary backing track, I love it. woohoo !!!!!!!!!!!

We could of course all do our own version and post them up, that would be cool too !!! Seeing as how Tomahawk is currently leading the guitar battle on G101 with his version of this, can we do better ??? Do we have the talent here to beat the G101 leader ? :-) :-) :-)

Thoughts ???

Ok here is my first take on this too, thought i would post this up as a work in progress version, it was very late here but i just had to get something down against this cool BT whilst i felt "in the groove". This was a hit the record and see what happens and on the whole not too bad. I will include this guitar in the final version too. I will update this with my final version tomorrow sometime.

The final volume is a little too low Zapp mate..

Some great Diatonic licks I havn't heard you play before and some well placed Pentatonic climbs.. Good work Neal 8-)

A tip though (not a critism) I heard you play a nice melody at the end, maybe you should introduce that melody from the begining and then build some licks around it (please tell me to shut up and mind my own bee's wax lol)

Zap... what can I say, that had the hairs standing up on the back of my neck, 'haunting' is the only way I can describe it... superb.

John... absolutely shredtastic! and executed with a tone that cuts like a rapier.

JB... excellent job, you're making great improvements and these jams will definately help.

Hey guys I have just had another listen to all these again, through sober ears this time, and they are all just sooo good. Those of you that are members on G101 should go and listen to this months competition there. All the versions you guys have done here knock spots of most of the entries over there. Considering some of the guys over there have probably spent days trying this and that on their tracks. To hear you dudes come up with such great tracks in such a short space of time makes me proud to know you all. We may lose out on numbers to G101 but we certainly make up for it with raw talent.

Zane72, lovely job mate, I know you did that really quickly, but it just show's what a star you are to come up with something that is so well constructed, superbly played, and with a fantastic use of tone that sets the guitar work just in the right spot against the backer. Flawless.

ZappaFan, oops thats me, well best not crtique my own slot had I ? Just to say I enjoyed noodling to that BT and it put a smile on my face and the odd shiver down my spine when i did it. BTW thanks for the comments guys.

JoeBaxi2, I cant tell you how pleased I am to see your playing come on so much over even just the last few weeks. To have gained the comfidence and ability to do this is just fantastic. well done mate,

Flyingzombo, well what can I say, you just have some magic in those fingers and some soul in your heart and it always comes through in your playing mate. I love to listen to your playing because I know it's always gonna hit the right spot.

Sixwheels, another one who has developed his new found confidence to get in on something like this. I know that you have lots of the technique stuff nailed and once again it's brilliant to see you tackling something like this. Top work matey.

Great work guys.

Oh and BTW, a special mention for our resident loonie, the great Flyingombo, it was just so good to hear you doing ya stuff again mate.

great take on that rob :thumb: I'm with zap on the comp thing, Whats good about this site is that I can happily post up a jam and have semi pro musicians post up stuff with it. Now where else can mediocre players like me get a chance to do that? Its a learning opertunity which is lost when it becomes a comp. Is the warzone section not for that anyway.

Rob
04-06-2006, 03:42 PM
Can see where Zap and BigDoug are comming from on the comp thing. I like the idea of us having a seperate Jam over something like this but it is bloody long I much prefer the zombo type jams tbh just taking a 30 40 second slot and going for it, it produces such a good mix, soloing for 4 mins can be very hard.

Ah, finally got time to listen to all of em.

So here we go:

Zane - Wow very nice stuff, that tapping part was extremely cool, great stuff.

Zap - very much feeling as always, notes fading in at the intro makes it sound very cool.

JoeBaxi - cool clean tone, very tidy.

SixWheels - Some very cool runs there, but how did you record this? I think the guitar sounds a bit small in the mix, accenting it a bit more would be cool.

Zombo - Well, just as Zappa said, you really have some soul mate.. killer bends too!

Rob - hey, nice stuff - nice quality too, this is better than the recent stuff I heard from you, you using any new gear?

hope I didn't forget anyone, you're setting a very fast pace with this guys..

I'll be completely honest with you Andy, at first I thought "What's he doing, Andy can do better than this", it was like you were lost and couldn't quite make it all gel, but then suddenly the 1:30 point passed and everything clicked into place. There was some very nice phrasing and a tone that fit the playing style perfectly, also I particularly liked the ascending hammer-ons, they were kind of... Dave Murray does the blues!

All in all a great effort.

Nicely done CB. :thumb:

I dont want you to think I am being overly critical here, because I am not, but I felt that in places the solo could have done with a bit more varaiation to give more dynamics and feel, plus the guitar seemd to be a bit lost in the mix sometimes. But overall a good affort and nicely played, Well done dude.

I have listened to several of the different styles on these forums and I must say that all Ive heard is alot of great work from you and several others. All comments are well respected. Thanks Viscolex I will try a little more variation next time. I really have been trying for a good sound more than licks or style. Since I have been trying to learn to program a drum machine and also work with audicity it somewhat overwelming at times but I wil get it done one way or another. This computer recording is cool as a fan I guess it will just take some time. again thanks for the help. btw you did a cool take on the jam yourself just gave it listen awhille ago. Keep it up
