Wow. Technically brilliant but not very musical.

holy crow...that guy's fingers make Vai's look short and stubby by comparison! Wish he would have shown the picking hand as well. Impressive stuff.

Well, great technique and playing indeed.

But you know what?
This stuff is perhaps impressive,
but I never listen to it again after I did once.

That's not music you can listen to, that's just a one-time statement about your technical skills.
Just my 2 cents.

As it turns out, I absolutely agree.

Shredding for the sake of it with no attempt at be musically expressive, it is however one of the most mind-blowing pieces of shredding I've come across hence my decision to post it.

Er.. I didn't get to the end of the clip.... close.... but not quite.

I can see how a skill like that is impressive as hell but, as someone said on another one of these "blistering fast clip" threads, each to heir own.

On clips like this I'm always waiting for something to happen! (other than the audacious speed the guys have around every flippin note on the neck! LOL)

It would be a sad place without variety of styles that the guitar brings but, with that style, I really just don't get it. Sorry.

Some of these guys can certainly tear up the fretboard but it ain't music...it doesn't have a direction or a theme to it but instead just endless bashing out of notes in rapid succession. IMO

I think the guy is totally amazing but I don't think that is balanced playing for me a bit of everything seems to be the best thing!

Shredding is for guitarists. We seem to be the ones who can appreciate what it takes to shred. I disagree with the comment about it not being very musical. It is very musical especially from a classical viewpoint. Keep in mind though, mostly guitarists will appreciate it.

Not sure what you are trying to say here mate. We are all guitarists here, all at various levels of ability I grant you, but guitarists just the same. Are you saying we aren't good enough to appreciate this type of thing ? If so I would have to disagree with you there and think that is a pretty condescending thing to say. I dont play the saxophone but I can appreciate when it's being played well and whether it's musically entertaining and emotionally fufilling. I also dont' paint but I can still appreciate and enjoy art.

I am not typing that at all. I wish I could play as well as that guy. What I am typing is more of a response to the one who typed it is not musical. I thought it was. What I meant about shredding is for guitarists is just that. People who don't play guitar and like the shredding and listen to a lot are in the extreme minority.
