Saw Paul Gilbert doing that at clinic it is awesome. I have managed some basic arpeggios sweeped but anything involving rocking a finger form one string to another ie: large minor arpeggio and i am stumped...maybe my fingers are too rigid?

Thanks for links guys.

I know what you mean Stew, my fingers won't arc back to do that rolling thing either but I tried the straight sweep using strings D,G,B & E and frets 15-14-13-12 and got it going quite well after a couple of minutes.

This is one technique I'll be continuing to practice now.

The video in that link isn't working for me...maybe because I'm using Firefox?

I think this might be the same video on youtube

One sweep I find particularly hard to do at tempo is in Canon Rock (JerryC):

12p10----------10h12p10--14p10--------12p10---------
------11----11-----------------11-----------11------
---------10-----------------------10-----------10---

Or something like that...it's simple but my hands are tiny (seriously, tiny, tiny hands) and my fingers just can't seem to move fast enough to do it at tempo with the backer when pulling off of the 14th fret and going down to the 10th on the G string. I can do it alright slowed down, but it doesnt seem like I am able to move my fingers any faster.

Yeah, that's the same one, though I can't understand why the link didn't work for you... I also use Firefox.

hey, Six I didnt see this earlier, I used to be a member of this guys website. I have lots of other tutorials by him. I'll have a look through them and list them up. They may be of use to some of you guys. He did an excellent 5 part series on musical theory for guitar.

He is also one of the main tutors on www.guitarschool.net (http://www.guitarschool.net) unfortunately that is a pay site. But there are some quite good sample lessons that are free.
