View Full Version : Anyone fancy a quick funk ???

Well whilst I was trawling through my MP3 backers looking for a "slide" jam backer I came across this tasty little number. Ahhh !!! I thought, that'll give us something a bit different to have a go at, so here it is. Hope you like it and feel inspired to get those funky lead lines brushed up and slotted in.

Dependant on how we split the track there should be room for either 4 or 9 slots I think. Think the 9 would be best that gives each player about 50 seconds.

Anyone interested ? Please give the track a good listen through, and maybe have a qucik noodle before you put your name in, just to make sure it's your thaaaang !! Then if you still fancy a shot at it get your name in.

I think I might have a go at this one myself too.

This is sounding really good I think, check out the version towards the end of this thread.

ZappaFan.

Actually it starts in D and changes into F then goes back into D ??

Well thats all well and good then, always great to have some key changes to work off, they add some extra dynamics and impetus to the solo's.

Thanks for clarifying that Zombo.

Fantastic playing Eric that was very smooth playing and like those harmonics of yours. One thing is that the bt as no more power Eric. The bt as lost lots of frequency what happened?

Ok I'm next

Yup, very cool stuff eric, seems like you improved very much lately, huh?

As to the track, I think you compressed it a bit too much.. 96 kbits is a bit sparse, convert it at 192 and it should be cool.

Jeez thats a great solo Eric, as always you rock on these jams dude, your playing always fits so well with the mood of the BT. Excellent.

The original BT was at 128 so I guess it should be done at that bitrate. 192 might make it too big to upload. I would take the solo down just a tad in the mix while you are at it. Just my 2 penneth.

ini
27-06-2006, 04:10 PM
Ok, didn't know what bitrate the original file had, if it was 128 then 192 won't make it sound any different, so 128 will do it too.

Great playing and compostion on that Stevedak, I am really loving this Jam and the 6SH "Star" line-up on it so far.

But now comes the bad news ......... doh !!! I really I wish I didn't have to do this !!!! But what has happened to the BT ? it seems to have disappeared further back into the mix, it's lost something off the EQ and also sounds like it is in mono.

Sorry to do that mate but as there are other people yet to come we need to keep the quality and levels right. Plus I know you will want it to sound it's best.

Thanks guys, was a bit of a rush job and I cant say that I was 100% pleased with how it turned out. I did try another couple of goes but they were a lot worse, so I stuck with this one. I would have liked to do some arpeggios and the like over it, I think they would have fitted very well, But I am not technically proficient enough to get them nailed.

BTW Ini no rush on this mate, take your time, shout up if you want any tips or assistance. Get Zombo's help if you need it to get the sound you want dialled in on that 2101. I am sure he will help you.

I struggled with this too, then suddenly stubled across my old favourite mode, weel teh only one I know really, the E phyrigian dominant. dont ask me to expalin what the hell that is theory wise because I cant. But here are the notes

G - 1 2
B - O 1 3

I uploaded on yousendit (won't upload it on my website, it's not "all in the pocket" so to say
But, it was some while ago, anyways.
I recorded this song as a lesson for my students to transcribe and practise.

Here's my take. Sorry if this is inapproriate, just thought, since it IS th same backing ;)
