View Full Version : Acdc Challenge
Little Wing challenge went superbly.
Aint talking about love is just excellent beyond compare.
BUT
This is micky's challenge.
he mentioned it in the jamroom and here we are.
he wants an Acdc challenge. Any acdc track you wish to record.
So deadline is the 17th july All tracks have to be in then voting can start.
it should be a good challenge because there are lots of acdc backers knocking about and everybody can play at least one acdc track.
For those about to rock say "ME PLEASE"

Me Please!
Interesting... I'm in the middle of recording an AC/DC track at the moment.
There's no backer for it so I'm doing everything... drums on Fruity Loops, rhythm & lead guitar, bass and maybe, just maybe, I might embarass myself with some truly awful vocals! Should earn me some extra points...lol
OK, what the hell... "ME PLEASE"
Ah sod it sold my Gibson SG but me please

Here's mine...done a month or so ago. Have taken the vox off only because I figured most wouldn't have them on. Was a toss-up between this and a version of 'Back in Black' I did but I'd only had the POD a short while when I recorded it and the tone wasn't as close as this. :thumb:

Okay, do I just add my file to here then ?
Sorry for the dust. I ain't been doing much lately and have accumulated a fair bit of dust *cough* *cough* *cough*
Well, Rick bullied me into adding this one by saying he would tell everyone I am playing Marillion riffs on my Eddie Van Halen 5150 Kramer.
So, in a bid to help him not come last, here's my take on Highway To Hell...
It's me on all guitars. It's the Peavey Wolfgang through the PODxt with the standard setting Highway tone, or whatever it is called. I think there is a teeny weeny bit of rhythm guitar on the backer. Vocals, drums and bass were all on the backer...
:poke:

Oopsie. I didn't ask if I could take part, and I left my vocals on...
Please don't ban me, I need enough in the background to hide my shite playing !!!

great job guys, mondola would love a copy of the backer, and dont worry I'm shite..er than both of you, but not got the balls to enter.
I'll have a listen to them all in one hit when they're all posted up, but in the mean time I need some help.
For my track I've got the drums down with Fruity Loops and tried to do the bass line... well, I did do the bass line but when I played it back the bass was out of time with the drums and as the track progressed the timing was slipping further out. By the end of the track it was out of time by about two seconds!
Any ideas what might be causing this?
As usual I'm using Cakewalk GT Pro and recording direct (line in) via my multi effect unit.
:-D did you play the bass to fast

I will look for it. I will have it stored in some obscure folder somewhere away from all my recordings and it will probably require a search on *.mp3 and then trawling through the thousands of results to find out where I stupidly put it, when at the time I thought I'd be able to find it easily...
Probably C:\mahbollox\tmp\tempy\crapstuff\tosortoutwhenican bearsed\ACDC_Backer.mp3

Some sort of lagging on there.
I had this on my laptop whan I used it for recording. During playing, everything was in time. But it seems the laptop was below spec and wasn't actuall processing quickly enough, and so when I played back the recording, the slippage as you describe occured.
Only thing I could do was go onto my pc, tower as it had more horsepower to cope with it...
Probably not the answer you wanted to hear. Hopefully these guys can add some input before you chuck your pc away...

Great job Mondolo I love it when the new members jump right into the fold......have a beer my good man!
Warning
Listening to this could cause irrepairable hearing damage!
Okay, I couldn't sing if my life depended on it but if all I achieve is to give you lot something to laugh at then at least I've achieved something.
The hardest bit of this was getting the drums down using Fruity Loops, then I added the bass guitar, rhythm guitar, lead guitar and finally... vocals!!!
No prize for guessing who isn't going to win this one but I had fun doing it so I don't care :butt:

Snap ! Everytime I listen to my stuff I just hear all the mistakes. I guess it's because I am focusing on the gap between where I wish my playing was at, and where it actually currently is at.
So therefore, I am never able to just listen and enjoy my stuff based purely on it's own merit.
Everytime I read other's comments, I have to check i haven't uploaded someone else's file by mistake, cuz I am sometimes left going, "Eh, are they actually listening to my track ? It sounds pants to me !"

Ok here it is, this is pretty much first take on the solo bit, I've since tried recording my Delta Blues amp but I can't crank it as its 6:20am here ;) and it doesn't sound up to scratch. Might have another go later today.
Anyway, Gibson LP and Pod XT, backing track was just bass and drums, I had a go at vocals but Bon Scott had a very distinctive style :D
its rocking! ends prematurely though...
