Yes yes it is a new idea I am sorry guys but the Zombo challenge thing got me frustrated having to push people to post so here is something completely different!
All you do is download the drumtrack and invent your own track I want to get you composing and being inventive we all play solo stuff and that is cool,
but when do we ever be inventive!!
Lets get our talents going and do something from scratch so come on let yourselves go and when we finish post it up!
If you want to we can have a poll on it let me know what you think this way everybody can have a go and I don't have to have stress !!

Cheers Zombo !

Damn! I would love to participate in this but can't. I have way to much latency with my midi controller keyboard.

I am totally in! Actually Zombo, I turned what I did for the rhythm jam into a song and I'll post that when I finish. I have all the word written and it is taking me a bit to figute out the song structure. But we'll see.

Well Zombo, this really is a challenge!! I've been away since late Friday and have not even listened to the drum track but hell, it sounds like a great idea! so, mate! I'll give it a go but.... I've got the Blues thing to do, the solo challenge plus I've still to get to grips with Audition 1.5 (not to big a problem!) and, I've binned the Guitarport in favour of the XT Live! Just bought (today, still in the boxes!) some Beringher driven studio monitor speakers so, a word with Rob and I'm away, but.... again! I'm of to Mallorca on Friday for a week! But, mate! I will post! I really feel up for this beginner or not!! LOL

Awesome.:thumb:

Being a novice with the guitar, its things like this which inspire me to get better, the only problem being is, when you hear something like that, you think to yourself..."Don't kid yourself, it'll only happen in your dreams!!!!":wall:

I've listened to a fair few of the tracks which everybody's laid down, seriously, how long does it take until you're able to shred like that????:-?

I know practice etc, but the talent on this site is pretty impressive I'm sure you'll agree.

Are there any exercises which anybody can recommend? I appreciate that to get to the stage which Zane and others are at obviously takes ages and ages, but some crumbs of encouragement would be great.

Anyway, I'll keep on plugging with the help of Danny Gills DVD's. Great job guys.

Thanks
Dan

Hi Bluto,

It all depends on you...How much motivation you have to get there. There is some guys which gets there in just a few years like Junkala and he is even higher than me.You have to enjoy it even when it's hard,But most important is not trying to go over the steps.First learn well the basics and slowly go up each level one by one.I remember when I first started learning the guitar...it was so hard that I've putted my guitar in the closet for 2 years without touching it. Good luck to you and I know many guys here which are ready to help out. :-)

Does anyone fancy a colab by putting a lead over this "half done" composing challenge?? and indeed a bass to drive it along?

A lot of great work by all so far. Here's something I threw together quickly this evening, I'm afraid not a lot of effort went into it, it's more of an idea really, but as I haven't posted for ages as work has been so manic, I thought I'd better chip in. I call it Clangers for reasons that will become apparent. Just two guitar parts over the drum track.

Ha!! I love it! It made a huge difference! Sorry I did not re-record but I've been away from home a hell of a lot in the past week or so but........I re-recorded it at a lower volume last night so, what I'm thinking is that perhaps we try for a slot on the 6SH CD?? Plus, how about someone soloing over the last few bars??

Thanks though the bass drives it along nicely!

Is the bass too loud?

Hey, I'm the guy with only one ear that works!! LOL (but it is a good one!) Anyhow, no, not in my opinion, it was good to hear it, I never meant that it was too loud. The whole balance seems better to me, you did not have to compete with my "over loud" guitar this time! I'm even more convinced than a little bit of lead over the last few bars would pull it all together though.

OOPS !!! I just looked back through this thread and saw Farley's post about soloing over the last few bars !!!! Too late !!

I remixed the orginal Rhythm guitar track with the bass track to get a better mix and added some EQ to liven it back up a bit. Then destroyed all that by going nutty all over it, sorry but you cant stop a noodler noodling :wall:

It is BTW 4.30 in the morning and I think lack of sleep has addled the brain somewhat.

Noodling craziness!! Yeah!!

Two things though....

Apologies to Zombo, we appear to have taken over your thread!
If you don't mind Neil, I'd really like you to have a bit more of a structured noodle over the last three or four sections (if you would be so kind!) and do that over the second version where my guitar is a bit quieter and the bass is a bit more prevelant. It's not that I did not like the noodling but I just feel that it could be a real ripper if it were a bit more restrained in lenght and a bit more structured. So, the gauntlet is thrown dow Neil! Over to you!
