View Full Version : i got a bit bollocked
my isp here has been nagging me.
then i got this
your Internet usage is way outside of our CY£20 per month agreement. Over the past month you have used over 2.5Gbyte of date which has cost me about CY£100.
Clearly, I cannot afford to have you using my system at that rate! You will need to either reduce your usage dramatically or upgrade to one of our higher-level service plans if you want to continue to use our service. We offer 100Mbyte per day downloads for CY£55 per month.
thing is, it takes me 50 times to download a webpage and 200 to get a file my current limit is 25mb per day so i guess i broke the limit good style.
anyway, i'll be moving on very soon indeed to a wired adsl without limits and a respectable download speed (for cyprus) so if i go offline again for a short while this is why!!!
2.5 gb in the uk i used to use over that in a day :nervous:
:thumb:
by the way he told me about these "agreements" a month after i got the service! but i never signed anything so i just can break the rulezzzzz

If it costs him CY£100 for 2.5GB I think it's him who needs to get a new service provider, what a muppet !!

Plonkus Maximus should be shot at dawn !
he's a reseller for ethnet in the uk.
its all done via eutelsat w3.
thing is his business model is shot to hell, because you can get this (https://www.netway.com.cy/index.php?cat=23) now even in places where it was previously unavailable.

Says it costs him 100 but he wants to sell you a plan for 55? Somebody's blowing smoke out their arse.
Wow what a duff agreement...restricted in megabytes of usage/day equates to not alot when most Uk porviders start off letting you have 5gb/month upto unlimited downloads...if you are downloading a couple of videos then your stuffed on that package you are doing the right thing binning this and looking elsewhere.
My problem is my BT is supposed to be the top of the line package upto 8MB and umlimited download but reality is between 1mb and 2mb downlaods if I am lucky so doesn't matter that they have upted the download limit from the original 30gb that I am not on long enough in the day to downlaod that amount....BT have been quite clever in rewording the desciption of their packages they mostly are advertised as "upto 8mb" now where as before my package was 2mb so I could query why my download speed was down as low as the the package one down from mine...but now the get out clause is "many factor affecting download speeds et etc YAWN"

I have just upped my package to an "up to 8Mbit" too and have fallen foul of the "up to", whilst most of the time the downloads are of a reasonable rate, around the 6Meg region, the connection has become less reliable with disconnections becoming more and more frequent. I queried this with my ISP and was told by some snotty nosed child on the support desk "of course mate we dont guarantee a service". So what the hell am I paying for, a service they dont guarantee to provide. I think it's about time these ISP's were forced to change the one sided agreements that we are given. We pay our money and should DEMAND a level of service, if there are technical issues thats there problem and not mine.
Rant over.

Wow... I didn't realize how fortunate I am. I have 3MB speed, with unlimited download/upload for 29 U.S. a month. I could get 6MB speed, but really since most sites have limiters on the dowload speed it would be pointless. Let alone the fact that I have been without service only once in the last 6 months and only because of a storm.
I've been taking this far too much for granted. Hope you get it worked out Rick!
i had cable back in the uk and 4mb was 4mb.
you could get up to 10mb with them for £30 per month with a phone chucked in!
i have to say when they destroyed all the roads and pavements in town everybody hated them, but for me i just sat back and waited for fast broadband!
btw having found out here that i can get adsl via phone they have kinda back tracked a bit saying im not near enough to the exchange now.
Anyways i live in hope!
don't suppose anybody has a couple of hundred miles of fibre optic laying around doing nothing do they :-D

We also have fallen foul of the "up to 8mb", basically now paying more for not much extra, it does occasionally get above 4mb but not very often.
And may i ask if anyone can recommend a good provider that allows unlimited, cos we too have had a bollocking re going far too far over, to the tune that theyve charged us an extra £100 (£1 for each Gb over) so we want to change as soon as contract is up, btw wasnt me twas wife.
Just an update on my situation I went on BT website last week punched in my phone number and although at that stage I alreadt had "upto 8mb" it said my line was only capable of 2mb...now it doesn't say 3mb, 4mb, 5mb or whatever it says "upto 8mb" so the gits are covering their tracks so I have gone on several broadband speed tests and I get 2mb if i am lucky BUT BTs clever advertising is such they don't have to do anything about it. I am well unhappy. At least before I was paying the top option for 2mb and those on optios 1,2 and 3 were on 512k-1mb but now they get the same why should I pay the top option when I would have to be downloading 2months continuous to get to my 1month limit :t*ssers:

I have a friend that wants to live htere so bad, he has flags and such, hes never been there, but will live there someday lol
Hello Rick
Mark highlight to you back in October that your usage at that time was way outside of the terms of the CYP20 pm service plan you subscribe to. As detailed in Marks email of 22 Oct our data indicated usage over that month in excess of 2.5Gbytes
Whilst I know you have had some connectivity issues in the past the data that we continue to gather from your usage in Nov indicates that the download excess is still continuing.
Over the last week you have utilised 1,800Mbytes, which translates to roughly 257Mbytes per day against an agreed service plan of 25Mb. Whilst a reasonable proportion of the data was transmitted off peak this usage is obviously still far in excess of what our supply terms are. When we look at the stats for the month of Nov as a whole your data usage here is 3,200Mbytes which still gives an average of 106Mbytes per day.
I’m sorry Rick but we simply can’t continue to maintain this volume of usage for the airtime charges you are paying or the download stress it is putting on our network and I am therefore going to have to sadly advise that from the end of November our service provision to you will cease.
As airtime charges to the end of November are already settled there will be no further payment required and as a gesture of good will we would propose that the original USB antenna provided within the rental contract is kept by you.
hahaha im almost tempted to swear, tossers

That's right dude I like to women heading off to work everyday so I don't have to kill myself while they sit at home getting fat and watching Oprah Winfrey. Why would you not want women making the same money then they got no excuse not to buy their own drink at the bar!

Ok you only emphasize on the good aspects.
The bad aspects is more than the good!
For example, if a women accused you of hitting her in canada you go to jail no questions ask. You say to the law she hit you .. nothing happens! This is one example of course.
Plus things like women have more priority over the kids than the male and during divorce women get more pay. Oh and women get less jail term lengths than men.. ! There are more but i dont want to turn this into a political thing. Just saying feminism is bad.... its "not" about equality of genders... its about women benefitting more than men dont get the two confused.

Well I'm sure if I dig around for some recent court decisions on your side of the pond the difference in the settlements will be just as lopsided, unless somebody else from over there tells me different..A serching I will go and by the way does your comment include the U.S. ? Just curious because they must be a feminist loving nation too, its the same there as here. And with female judges making those decisions like here.....mmmmmmmmmmm

I read an article about it, im just spitting out what i read more than what my opinions say. I have no thought about it other than i know Canada are most feminist country...everyone knows this .. its a well known thing...
and yes Canada are not the only country like.. most western countries are heading that way just Canada have already gone further ahead than any other so far... its even illegal to "research" the word feminism in Canada would you believe.
Like i said i don't want to cause a stir just saying from what I read, there are many articles on Canada and feminism, Oh and im not saying Canada "are" feminists... cos i know many Canadians hate the feminist MP's, who are trying to get feminism to occur in Canada... weather it fully happens I don't know.

Why don't we just come back to the thing we all love the most...MUSIC.We all have our problems and we don't need anyone to remind us of our problems in Canada. If we all start saying all problems we have in each Country, what good would that do?I consider ^ string heaven as a united nation were all musician can enjoy music without discrimination and can share this beautiful art.

Theres loads to moan about in every country. Jeez, there's enough cr#p going on here to sink a battleship. Leave it to those who get paid to b#lls it up for us all.

Well said. We are united by music here. Whatever the ability of any member there is never anything other than help and praise on offer. The country they are from simply does not matter. Neither are any predjudicial comments made about race, creed or colour or any feminism or indeed anti-feminism. PS, as for Sirchicks "everyone knows this .. its a well known thing" (post No 27 in this thread) I never have heard any bad comments about Canada and feminism and probably wouldn't listen to them if I did. So... in other words, keep it to the music.
