well, its done
we have a gig on Tuesday(Halloween day) in the art center where we like...
there will be approx 100~ people there, and lots of different bands
we will be doing 2 songs:hey joe(with a kick ass long solo by me and the other guitarist) and whiskey in the jar
why 2 songs? well, we only had two practices so far, so we are not quite ready to do even 2
but anyway :D
IM GOING PSYCHO CAUSE ITS GONNA BE AWESOME!!!!!!!
any tips any1 want to give? im kinda nervous cause there will be lots of people and the band isnt quite ready, but we feel confident enough
i might even post some pictures or even a video if i get one

Listening to all your stuff so far, looks to me that you're totally ready to blow them all away. Good luck mate, go for the throat!

Go for it Visco! but, if you are nervous, about a litre of Jack Daniels an hour or so before you take the stage will calm you down!! LOL
Good Luck!
Farl
Good luck with it andy you look like your ready for it, big improvements lately.
Good luck Visco you'll knock em out. Maybe once on stage and hook up exchange a couple of licks with the other guitarist just to get yourself settled before launching into your first song.

Just remember playing live people don't catch nearly as many mistakes as recording and they'll think you sounded twice as good as you thought you did

omfg
well, we are the first band to play, and we have a 30 minute set O_O
this aint good, but we added another song (for whom the bell tolls) to the list, so hopefully we will pull off 20 minutes
still, this aint too good :D
Wow Visco, the same thing happened to me the other day when I was playing. I had a 40 minute, I was about 20 minutes in when I relised im going to have some time left over...so i made the most of it and threw in a totally improvised piece with a drone from my dd-3 and that took up some time. Then i finished off with Summer Song :D

Sock it to 'em. Take the tempo down a bit, that'll make the songs last longer  Don't worry about making mistakes, just keep playing and no one will notice. Make sure you get a warm up and leave off the booze 'til you've finished your set. Not that I'm an expert or anything, just trying to be encouraging.

meh, "leave off the booze til finished" isnt the idea we had :D
2 cans before the show wont do any harm anyway, and will calm us down a bit
but, i cant wait for it! :D

Good Luck Andy with the gig and here's my short 10 list of things to help you out in case you didn't think of these:
1: Only two beers max before going on stage
2: Make sure your sound level for patches are even(less delay than at home is better)If you got pedals make sure they wont slide around on you and if you ain't got power supplied board make sure you got fresh batteries in
3: If singer don't have the gift of gab on stage make him learn some (silence will kill an audience)
4: Put set list on big piece of paper in big black letters on the monitors and maybe patch number for each song if your nervous and forget
5: Never tune out loud on stage use a stage tuner
6: When you look out into the audience and feel nervous just remember your the musician and they got no talent..LOL
7: Make sure everyone nows they're place on stage (I've seen some bad crashes)
8: Strap Locks<<<<
9: If they heckle for anyreason just give the hecklers the finger and bang your head harder and tell them your girlfriend was good last night..LOL
10: Have fun
Heres some cool stuff I figured out after watching numerous DVDs and doing gigs myself.
- Make your mouth move in time with your wah-wah pedal.
- Start with either an uptempo song (to make the audience aware that you have arrived) or a slow song (to keep the audience in suspense.)
- Make Gary Moore faces during the solo.
- Play with a cigerette hanging out of your mouth.
- Quieten down the volume after your solo, the audience will go mad.
- Stomp on that boost pedal and step forward in front of the band when the solo comes.
- Finish the set off with your best song and make it a night for the audience to remember.
- Don't do an Eric Johnson and look disappointed while your playing something out-of-this-world.
- But don't go over the top and ruin a cool song (Bad Horsie - Steve Vai on Live in Astoria is a prime example.)
- Move around the stage.
- Take a bottle of water, and make sure theres a place to refill! (You will get thirsty, very thirsty.)

wow thx for the tips shep and zeusse
will use em, this will be the first "big" gig for me, so im kinda nervous, well atleast if we put a bad show on, there are another 4-5 bands after us anyway :D
well, we are thinking of doing Whiskey in the jar first(kinda meatallica version cause its more catchy) then for whom the bell tolls and finish it off on Hey Joe with massive solo's :D

I think the most important tip is "Enjoy yourself" this is why we play guitar right? It doesn't matter if you make mistakes, nobody notices apart from the one hyper critical guitarist who happens to be watching - and he's jealous because he isn't stood where you are. Only 2 beers before you go onstage!!! Of course you can drink as much as you want once you're on there  Oh and don't worry too much about your sound, because once the drummer kicks in no-one can hear your tone anyway ;)

What the drummer doesn't drown out the bass player usually will..LOL

Hey Visco, Just go and do it..You will probably fart a lot due to nervous and stress in the first song:nervous:  ..but after you'll be hooked...you'll want more and more.
Take a look at my first gig ..I was 17 years old and nervous like hell but enjoyed that one. Click here to see it:http://steve-zane.magix.net/userwebsite;jsessionid=uce5c1t6cwku.omaasp31?act=1 5&pos=1 When the page will open, click on Josee Truchon on the left.
After you will see 3 box..click the one that says: Band te.You can double click on the movie while it's playing to make the size bigger. Don't freak out to see me with hair..yes I used to have hair. The only thing I can say is that first gig made me play better because of the pressure. Good luck and enjoy it.

When I did my rirst gig we didn't have enough money to buy the coal for the steam photo appliance. So no pics, I do have an audio tape somewhere though, i'll try and get it posted up sometime.
Anyway have a great time Visco and I hope it all goes well. I am sure you'll love it mate.

we sometimes get paid in beer.... which is very silly as it always costs them more than if they just stumped up the cash! Oh well... they live and learn
