Rob, I've just had a listen and a count up... I work out that there are 4 x 12 bars then 2 x 8 (a middle section) then 2 x 12 bar section then about 8 or 9 bars to the end - rough timings for these are...

1/ 0 - 28 secs 12 bars
2/ 28 - 52 secs 12 bars
3/ 52 - 1:16 12 bars
4/ 1:16 to 1:39 12 bars
5/ 1:39 - 1:56 8 bars
6/ 1:56 to 2:12 8 bars
7/ 2:12 - 2:36 12 bars
8/ 2:36 - 2:59 12 bars
9/ 2:59 - 3:24 8 bars and fading

So how are you going to call it?

1 - 24 bars
2 - 24 bars
3 - 16 bars
4 - 24 bars
5 - 8 bars

?

Rlee11, you have to forgive me mate I don't understand I thought I done my bit, or am I missing something, go easy on me mate I'm new here....thanks Frank

Sorry mate :-) The jam goes like this, we split the track into 5 parts usually around 50 seconds each, you are taking the first slot, download the backer record your slot and post it back, then the next person downloads the backer with your bit recorded on it and records their slot and so on until the end.

If you look back on the posts here you will see the list of people who are playing in the first jam.

Any problem just let me know :thumb:

ZappaFan

There seems to be some recording issues going on here, IMPO, Flashriffs seems to be overdriving the mic so that it has become distorted. Great playing though.

Not sure whether you had a touch of "record button syndrome there" Barry. It's a tough thing and we all get it sometimes. It sounds from your post that you weren't entirlely happy with your contribution, so have another play about until you are, as far as I am aware there arent any time constraints on these jams, so take more time and play around with a few more ideas until you are, thats what taking part in these is all about, it's not about putting people under pressure to deliver.

bwdavis99
09-11-2006, 08:06 PM
Frank, I vote we punt, you record your bit and stop at a point just beyond 50 secs that you'd hand it off in a live jam, or perhaps some one more seasoned can take the 2 slot

flashriffs
09-11-2006, 09:40 PM
Thanks gents for your kind comments, I agree that my recording level needs to go down a bit. On the volume sliders I get the mix spot on, but the input level must still be too hot, I'll have a look in 'sounds and audio devices' in the control panel ; I think all the sliders are in the properties. THANKS AGAIN, FRANK

Barry

Dont give up Barry, I have heard you play before mate, and I know you can nail this, just take the time, analyse whats going on, hit the record button, then forget it's recording and "play". I know thats harder than it sounds. Even the most experienced contibutors to the site may do many many takes before they are happy, just hang in there and you'll come up with something you are happy to put your name to, it just takes time sometimes, and we have that in abundance ....... :thumb:

Plus I am next and dont have a clue what to play either :wall: so dont think you're alone on this one

bluesgeek
10-11-2006, 01:49 AM

Barry man!! Stick with it, have fun and gain as much as you can from the fine dudes here on the site man! Guitar playing is all about enjoyment and progression man. The more you play, the more you progress! Learning the notes is one thing, the feeling and timing come with confidence man! Once that damned record button is hit it can hinder things with the nerves a bit though but it does get better man! I always play my best when no-one else hears it!! Bummer man! We have all heard where you were at when you first uploaded music on the site man and we can see you are on the right path even though you may not see it yourself at times. Remember, we are all our own worst critics man so keep at it!!

Hey, it is nice to be lucid for a change!! I wonder how long this feeling lasts man??

Anyway Barry man!... if all else fails.... eat mushrooms!!

You dropped in nicely with that swing feel there JB, top stuff, your playing is coming on in leaps and bounds mate :thumb:

You do need to check the level overall though, the whole track including your solo has gone very very very quiet. Go back into you recoreder and up the levels back to where they were, then export to mp3 again, otherwise there is a lot of hiss on the track. Other than that mate top banana job.

I would suggest that the BT is put up un a new thread. JB has his saved as I guess has Barry and Flash so... I figure that, as everyone is now up to speed with how to record and hopefully when to record, that the new thread is started, the BT is posted, the listings (with or without times) are posted and everyone sticks to their alloted number of bars and hey!!... a jam will be completed! (or several in fact as there are enough participants for three jams here!!)

Just a thought Rob. This thread could then be deleted and it should stop the confusion.

Sound good to me, a seperate thread for each jam would be cool with the running order on the first post along with the BT so there wont be any confusion.
