OK!! I've finally found a bit of spare time!! So, after a 5 min warm up & practice, this was my very first attemp at recording on this BT and in honesty the first thing that came into my head (this will be obvious I guess! LOL). I generally post my 20th or 30th attempt but, I thought I'd go with the very first tonight!! So, Zane up next and hopefully all confusion about this BT is now gone!

Ok guys,I'm in a sh*t mood..bad day all day and to make things worst my girlfriend is listening to some Russian opera while I'm tying to record this :dead:

I'm not happy with what I did , but I don't want to keep you guys waiting.I hope I didn't brake the jam's mood.

Great job Farley. That was very smooth. Nice tone.

Zane ah la Russian opera! Well it sounds like you can block it out pretty well. That was great. I wonder how well you would play if your girlfriend cranked up Beethoven on you. :thumb: :thumb:

That's a cracker Farl very sweet licks one of your best Zombo challenges yet. And Steve if I'm not mistaken your girlfriends opera must have really gotten to you it was a very aggressive jam from you me thinks I heard hammer-ons..LOL And I like it:razz:

Highway Star

Thanks for the compliments guys.I just listened to it again and other than a couple of hesitant bends I'm prety happy with it myself! LOL

Zane my friend, your speed and accuracy is great! Russian Opera seems to have brought out an aggressive style of play that sounded just fine to me. Shame you were not overly happy with it, another case of us all being our own worst critics I think.

wow guys, what a great pair of openers...very very nice playing there Farl, nice thick tone and punchy riffs, well done!

Steve, I loved the stinging sound you got, and you were sure showing your aggravation there, I especially liked the hammer-ons &pull-offs and the start/stop phrasing...another killer jam so far!!

Thanks Steve, that is the Godin guitar..it as that thin sound which cut through.
It's the second time only that I've been using it for recording.I'm starting to like this guitar. It also have a narrow neck which make it easy for fast solo's.

Cheers for the offer Eric, as much as I love pickled eggs - I reckon pickled liver would be something else! I never managed to get round to it last night after all - I decided a few 'hairs of the dog' were called for and woke up on the sofa at 5-30am

Recorded this afternoon after trying a few down and dirty patches with no luck, switched to clean and got the first half down in one take, stolen mercilessly from the EC/BB version of 'Help the Poor', or what I remember it as sounding like! I got most the way through the second half until the missus came in to tell me something vitally important (isn't it always?) so had to retake the second half. Great takes before mine! I always try NOT to listen to the previous ones so I can put my own stamp on so I don't steal others ideas! erm EC and BB King are obviously fair game ;)

***oh bum, I cannae upload it cap'n *** :(

Okay........this has taken bleeding ages to record. It was more nerveracking than getting married!!!

I'm afraid, it way on the basic side, but after spending so long on it, trying to get my fingers to go places they were having trouble going to, I decided to that enough was enough and to hell with it!!

I knew that Farleys, Zanes and Bluesgeek part were really good, but I got a better perseptive of their playing and tones after listening to it for what? 50 or so times!!!:-P Great stuf fellas:woot:

Thanks for listening to it, but bear in mind, I do cry!!:-P

Highway Star

No need to cry but... a big need to up the guitar level on your recording. What I could hear sounded real fine but your hiding your light (as they say) and your playing is overwhelmed by the BT so... I would suggest that you open the session again, raise the guitar volume and mix it down again to let us hear the fine playing that is almost inaudible. (please :thumb:)

Wow! love that tone BG. My favorite part is the beginning of the second time through. Great riffin!

That sounds fine Bluto. The tone is nice and the riffs were nice and subtle. You can bring up the level and give the tone more punch by applying the Voxengo Tube amp effect. It's a free vst plug in and really can add to tone.

Great job guys! :thumb: :thumb:

Steve Zane

Bluesgeek-Very nice soft blues tone.Very clean solo and accurate.

Bluto- Very spacy , but nicely crafted..like the others was saying,it could be a little louder.

Great jam so far from everyone!

Sorry for the low level guys. I've tweaked around with it for what feels like hours:x I'll PM Eric later and ask him for some advice on recording with the GNX/Pro Tracks. I've only ever recorded via the Compact Flash card, but that isn't much good when you need lay something down at the end of a track like this one.

Never mond.......it's all a learning curve I guess.:micro:

Never mond??? ...............my brain hurts...............:dead:

I guess you're right BG, its a pain in the 'how's yer fathers' tho'. I've just tried to lay something over another backing track as a test, I can't get the bleeding guitar levels down!

I've pm'd Zeusse........he's a god isn't he? I'm hoping he'll sort out the GNX probs for me:eh:

bluesgeek
17-12-2006, 12:12 PM
its all to do with recording level versus listening level.... with the pod xt you can adjust the 'monitoring level', with normal windows volume control you can go 'advanced' and change the input level.... tis a shame because what you played was worthy of much greater volume!
