This is a sad loss of a truly great DJ (one of very few ever in the UK!).

I always remember sitting up late on Friday nights to listen to his Radio 1 show (late 70's?) and hearing amazing new bands like Def Leppard, the Scorpions et al.., along with a mix of classic heavy Rock and "metal".

Sadly missed Tommy - the last decent show on Radio 1 - and a Rock Music legend.

Tommy vance kept alive metal when all around him in th early eighties were playing s**t. His voice was great, it sounded like he just chewed a beer glass before comming on, its a great loss to broadcasting and rock
