hey
How do you get a job building cutom guitars for people? is the best way to just ring around companies who do it and ask if they have any job vacancies?, and to see if they'd train people up. Or would it be best to do a college course in guitar repairs and try to get a job at the end of it?
Im 18 now and just finishing my A-levels at school, but im not bothered about going to Uni, so should i just ring some companies up, or try and find a course in guitar building an repairs?
are there any guitar makers near you?
you could always go stalking..
maybe you could move next door to r\2e.
seriously though i once came across a place near leeds that runs courses, can't for the life in me remember anything about it other than it was yorkshire and i would have found it on google.
donkeycaster is in yorkshire isn't it?
There are a few courses available, do a Google search but they are expensive, and some people do Furniture making courses, but whatever training you have, experience is the thing. You have to make some guitars for yourself first, find out all the pitfalls, before you can think of making for other people. It's also a good idea to start repairing guitars, get some books and tools and do your friends' guitars for free. If you do it properly the word gets round.

I agree with Ron on this one and it does require experience I know myself after repainting many guitars practice makes perfect!

If you think about it long and hard, destiny has no choice, but to give you your niche.
