Well, I'm kinda happy with it for once (I think...) so... please let me know your thoughts, I can take it! The only real criticism I have is that it sounds much like everthing else I do! Perhaps I'm creating my own style!! LOL

Yep, you defo have your own style Farl, but that ain't a bad thing at all!
Everything you post here is clean, well phrased and really well put together. Great tone on this jam Farl, smooth as silk.
YOU'RE A STAR MY FRIEND !!!!!:star: KEEP IT UP!:thumb:

Sounds very good to me Farley. Good intro and a smooth lead to follow. Everyone has they're own style and will always play that way on everything.
Great Work :thumb: :thumb:

Great start there Farley me old mucka. Fantastic tone and it fitted to the BT like a glove mate. Top stuff !!!
Well here is my bit, dowloaded the backer, imported it into cakewalk, marked the section for the punch in, plugged in the JJ Hucke, kicked on the GT6 and this is what the first take produced.

Nice tone Zappafan. Like the spacey feel and keeping it loose sort of was a great accent to the tone. Well done mate!

That tone is one I have been messing about with in my GT6, it uses the inbuilt feedbacker effect, now I have discoverd how to use it I cant leave the damn thing alone, but it sounds pretty cool.
Thanks for the feedback ( no pun intended ) GP, much appreciated.

Jeez Neil, I don't want this to sound like a mutual appeciation society thing but.... that was really good matey! Loved the feedback sound but, it would have been nothing without that awesome playing!

Have to say for a first take I was kinda pleased with it myself. I like give space to a solo sometimes and just let it flow like that.
Cheers Farl, your appreciation is much appreciated.

Thanks for the comments Dan, GP, Zapp and Doug. It is wierd to think that I can sit at home, recieve a music file from Germany, download it, record over it, re-post it and have people around the world not only listen to it but actually appreciate it! Bizarre! It kind of makes it all worth while to me as, without a doubt, I will never get back into a band again. I live in such a remote area of Suffolk that I doubt I'll even get to jam with another player so... playing over BT's on the internet getting comments from people I've never even met may be weird but it really is very much appreciated. It's nice to have a bunch of intercontinental virtual mates.
Thanks for listening.

Most impressive jam guys and Farl I'm glad you got your own style dude and thats what makes this site so great I think everyone has their own style when its a cover sounding like the artist is fine but on original licks and jams I like to hear the real person come out and play. And thats some tasty playing you got Neil and the tone was fabulous it really shows the true great player you are...more,more,more:-D

Cool! I started working on something last night. I won't be able to get back to work on it until possibly later this evening. That part starts off with no bass, so I'm going to have to come up with something really creative - possibly add a bass line there. :eh:

I should have something posted later this evening (I'm USA Mountain time). I have so many different directions I can take with this thing. The biggest thing is what to do with it since the bass line was removed from part of the last time slot. To make it sound right, or musical - to me at least (:-P ), I tried to make a seamless transition to an alternate bass line, fading in some funky sounding guitar panning from center to left and also using an alternate rhythm guitar. The lead pans from left center to right, in an attempt to blend with the dynamics on the left, allowing for a smooth transition from the original bt. The progression then returns to the bt at the point the original bass line starts back up. The mix at that time slot is a little louder to compensate for the different dynamics, and I think the transition is smooth enough for it to work. On account of the varying dynamics, I wanted to end it with a bang, so I was looking into another transition at the end with an original progression I'd been working on, which seems to fit the mood of the whole jam. Stay tuned!

OK ... here it is. Experiment part 1. It's kind of rough, but it wouldn't be the first time I've returned to the drawing board. Extended to 4:23 minutes. I mastered the mix to a hard limit of .092% clipped on the left and .036% clipped on the right channel.
128kbps version:

192kbps version:

Maybe this could be part 1 and then continue on to a part II tune? :eh:
I'd like to do a better take on the lead, though.

Yes that is quite the difference well done Rick. When I listen to both the redone version is a lot wider regardless if its 192kbps. And your solo sounds great don't know why you'd want to do it again stop being picky:-D

Very good matey! and.... unlike anything else I've heard on these jams, not usual to actually change the structure or length or morph them into something else but... in other words ... quite original thinking which is ia a nice alternate take to hear. Have you ever listened to an old Welsh band called Man?? That transition was like a (very) shortened version of some of their work. Zapp may disagree though! (one of his old favourites as well as mine!) Cool all round though!
Am I rambling again??

Not quite sure I agree fully there Farl, but I can see what you mean in a way. They certainly had a very different way of approaching things, much like Rick's thinking on this. Some very good bits in it and then maybe a couple that dont quite gel as well, but it is great to see someone taking a different slant at things. So well done Rick. :thumb:

How would that work - kind of like coming up with your own bt's, or complete songs, or what?

In the past, Zombo would post a drum track and everyone would come up with something. He fisrt did it with a bass line. The time after that, there was no bass line. There are threads from September and October where it has already been done. It was really cool how many different things came about.
September rhythm challenge (http://www.6stringheaven.com/forum/vb/showthread.php?t=2878)
October Composing challenge (http://www.6stringheaven.com/forum/vb/showthread.php?t=2964)

Different approach to your bit Rick I suppose being on the end of the challenge was fine but if you changed the backing track in the middle it wouldn't of worked out so good nice timing!!
Thanks for your contribution and playing great stuff!!
