I won't be able to play my guitar for a week because I am not supposed to lift anything heavy right now. This is torcher expecially after hearing Zane's new tune. It was inspiring Zane.

I can't play right now because I had a cataract removed and they said, "Don't lift anything heavy". My guitar is heavy

I guess the good news is I can finally reformat my hard drive and start anew. Wait, did I say good news.

Why does it take so long to write a drive to zeros? :enough:

I assume the reason why you should not lift anything heavy is because of your blood pressure.
A guitar is not that heavy and if you're playing while sitting it is quiet comfortable, I don't think that this would cause your blood pressure to rise significantly.

It could even be that it decreases if you relax and have fun while playing - you should best talk to your doctor about this Guitarprima.

I am not sure about this though since I have no medical knowledge whatsoever (maybe stew knows something about this?). Just logical thinking - As I said, ask your doc, perhaps he'll permit you playing guitar.

Thats a tough one GP a week without a guitar might be good in a sense, it will be a time for reflection and rekindling other pastimes that might have fallen by the wayside........................ok who am I kidding it outright sucks but atleast you'll be feeling better in a week........ask the doctor if holding and caressing a guitar is ok:grin:

Bummer about the guitar thing but here's wishing you a swift and full recovery from your cataract operation.

Why does it take so long to write a drive to zeros? :enough:

Well it has to write to every sector of the drive. I assume you are wiping the drive for disposal. Make sure you run the wipe routine many time (4 or 5) as otherwise it is still possible to get back data.

Its amazing where an old drive can end up (Africa seems to be the main place at the moment) and if they have a non wiped drive they can get lots of info you don't even know you have off off it (Bye Bye bank account....) :nervous:

Sorry to hear that GP. You seem to have drawn one of life's short straws. I guess, on the positive side, you'll be able to see better for a while now that the cataract is gone.

Anyhow, good luck matey!

I think Ini is right in that you don't want your blood pressure to rise too high. I would agree with Ini to contact your eye surgeon and ask how heavy is heavy and that if sitting with guitar on lap would be fine....I would think it is provided it ain't a Les Paul and your lifting it onto a wall stand.

Thanks for the support! The doctor said at least a few days.

I am only writing the drive to zeros once. I always do that before a re-install. If I have a virus, which I don't, then I go over it several times.

BTW- Everything went very well.
