Which do you prefer using?

Im not sure weather i should buy a new rack fx system or not to. I've got a boss se-50 at the moment but its a bit rubbish, I wont something where I can add some delay, reverb and maybe a bit of chorus to my sound.

Would it be better for me to get something like the g-major or rocktron intelliflex, or just to get a few pedals?

if you wanna buy a pod pro ;-)

the g-major is the dogs b*ll*cks i believe but never heard one..

its all about taste, sound, eggs-in-basket syndrome... for the price of something like a use pod pro you could get new boss 2 pedals i guess?

try out some racks, try out some pedals then weigh up your options.

I had a play with a pod xt pro last night (my local guitar shop had a 2nd hand one in) but i dont want an amp modeling thin, cos i want to keep my amps tone, i just want to add a few fx to it.

I've been thinking of ordering a Rocktron Xpression from America, does anyone know any good cheap sites to order from. The cheapest i've is one from www.music123.com. I've just got an e-mail back saying that shipping would be about $30, So it would cost me $330 (about £170)

I decided not to bether getting stuff from America, it would be too much messing around, with volt changes and stuff. But i did find an add for a 2nd hand Rocktron Intellifex so i've e-mailed the guy and got some pics of it, i think im gonna get it, ill post pics if i do.

if you get one.. I'll be down to donnie to have a first hand listen... i dying to get that 80's clean sound and I believe that the g-major (aka C Lydian) is the only way.

Wolfie,
I'd be interested to know what you don't like about the Boss. I'm looking around for something like this for a relative beginner, also saw zoom gfx8 at that price. Obviously don't want to buy rubbish but want to get as much as I can for 200quid.
Cheers, Martin

Don't get the Zoom, they're plastic, cheap looking - cheap sounding, crap. Buy a GNX4 if you can spare the dosh, they're solid, great sounding, comes with 8 track recorder (USB and smart card) and quite a few pro's use them.

Just my 2 cents..

Thanks for that T, I thought there must be a catch with zoom. GNS looks brilliant, can't afford it right now. :(

If you just want FX that wont affect your amp tone, why don't you get the Marshall JFX1 I bought one recently for £155 off Ebay and its the Poodles Plums. I also have the Pod XT Live which is the Mutts Nutz for recording

Trouble is, I want pedals, the XT live is 100 quid more.

POD v2 is v.good. Could always add a floorboard later. Or try a pedal at a time and build up your reportoire. Lots of decent tones can be got by fiddling with amp/pickups, and just add a bit at a time. I have a range of pedals in stock if you want to check out my online store!

what do you guys think about the Boss GT6? I like mine when played through PC with 7.1 dig speakers but when I put it through my Fender Stage amp I don't quite get the sound I am looking for.

I want a Satriani like sound with bags of sustain, would I be better using a seperate compressor pedal instead of the GT6's compressor. Is there any other overdrive /booster pedals that I could use with the compressor and forget about the GT6?

I had the GT6 and thought it was extremely harsh, And when played live it was so trebley no matter wot I did, sell it and get urself a XT Live

Hi Tony

Been checking out the POD on their website, seems very impressive. I agree the GT6 seems very trebly when used through an amp and seems to be clipped!

Is there anything the Pod doesn't have? I quite like the harmoniser in the gt6, phaser, pedal bend also good fun to use. i am currently trying to learn "Is there love in space" and would like it if the pod could emulate the the sections where there are guitars palying octaves apart? and also want to learn another Satriani tune Gnaaah where there is alot of whammy pedal use at the start... is this possible with the Pod?

Stew
