Ok , I know I'm early but I was bored so I've made a new backer so we can jam a solo on it.

Thanks guys I thought Steve made such a lovely backer I didn't want to shred too much and yes MJ I did layer second parts on the melody I'm starting to do that more in my recordings it adds a nice full sound.

Loverrrrley (not a typo) stuff indeed Zeusse. Follow that eh ?
Well here's my first shot at recording something to it. Didn't want to shred all over it so I tried to keep it simple and melodic (ish)
zeusse
24-02-2007, 01:26 AM
And melodic(ish) it is my good man really loved the middle stuff that is a tone I just can't seem to find. My wife even said good job on that one Neil she liked it better than mine, she'd never give me credit even if I wrote the last song of all time......b_t_h!!!

Cheers matey. The tone I got by using my JJ Hucke, coil tapped bridge pickup (the JJ doesnt actually give you a full single coil its about a 50% drop on half the humbucker), and I used a tone on my GT6 called "Another Brick" so that should give you an idea of the type of tone to be looking for.
Appreciate you and your wife's comments. BTW you know what they say about the grass always looking greener, so dont feel too bad about her comments on your stuff. We all think it's ace and we should know. :-) You should also remind her that it's the beer that inspires the fingers and send her down to the drug store for some Molson.

Didn't got much time this weekend, so I did this with huge time shortage...
Nice slow progressing backer! Thumbs Steve!
Have fun, or not...
Listening in reverse order. First Peter.
I mention the middle passage screams for decending that a-stair.... Got the same idea in my jam, but added more than only the scale. Nice musical thought....
And I like the in- and outro with answer in with pedaltones... Real Yngwie Neoclassical...
Great job!
Now Neals version....
Funny panning tricks! LOL. Nice bright sound with huge clarifyable tone.... waw... Very creative middle fill! Thumbs to that! Also an answer-game... cool!
Eric, fantastic as always. Very nice parts. Unbelievable you could place all those notes in! Nice job!

Cheers GP, that comment made me listen again. I recorded it last night and to be honest, once it was on the site I never gave it a second thought but, after listening to a load of other stuff in between, I gave it a go just now and, although it was not too nimble with the fingers, (I try to make up for a lack of speed with phrasing! LOL) I quite liked it myself! a bit haunting I thought! Still a way to go as yet to keep up with the class of the others.... practice, practice practice!! LOL
Thanks again
Farl
Ok, hre is my take. I'm having all sort of issues with cubase.I wanted to put some rhytm but can't. I now have huge lag issues which I didn't have before.I guess it means reinstall cubase.
I was missing your take, normally it can be found on the first page of a likely thread. Playing was great as always. Middle section caught about the same idea which PM555 and myself had, but yet different again to see each character come through. Nice rapidfire ending! Great!
Thanks for making these backers, they're just long enough to capture the ideas and not too long to make it one monotonous fiddly-fidll-stuff...
Sorry 'bout my English. I think dutch and translate afterwards!

Here is my bit. I have been working on this and forgeting everthing else. So now that I am done, I can go finish my other stuff.
It is quite different from the others. Last month I said I would do an "invention" but I could not make it one. So I made this BT an "invention". As far as I know, J.S. Bach is the only one who wrote inventions. Everything is based on the melody and counter-melody. In this case, the melody (or motif) is only one bar as is the counter-melody.
Enjoy!
lol rock on Dude, sounded like there was someone in there with you man, better watch out for that?

Well Zeussemeister, I only have one picture and sorry man but I aint got round to putting my trademark mosaic design on yet so it don't look too far out. It's a real shame man, not enough bread to buy a new one! Heavy! I have to make do with this, 50 years old man!! Made in1957, just about ready for the scrap heap man but the mosaic will bring it back to life when it's done! Case is a bit knackered as well but it's the original and what would you expect after 50 years!!

Guitarpima that was completly different to the others I loved your approach with the two guitars and your very neo classical solo bit wow !!

Scali what a start I loved the two guitar idea one playing the bass notes and the other with the solos!
Zane first of all what a great track you talented man you! The start reminded me of Neal Schon and the middle almost like Brian May type laying suff! Excellent playing!

Very cool Zombo! Great playing as always. Loved the harmony at the change!
John, it is a long list (and listen) with finally a great amount of players who contribute.
Your a special class on its own and yep, the beginning of your twin sounds about the same. But mine twin wasn't a twin. I made a main line in the middle and on the left side the low twin and on the right side a high twin. I dunno the name for it in english, but there were three layered guitars there....
You have great tone and licks. Fantastic to listen to...

Petermoran - Nice mellow feel...I like the run at the end of the secon pattern.
Good technic you have there.
Sin -You have a superb tone! You also have a good pinch armonic technic.I like the armonies in the second pattern. What sound card are you using and Fx processor?
Zombo - Ver melodic line with a smooth tone..great job with the armonics..love that run in second pattern..This is the best solo line I've heard from you.
Farley - What you did is very good and melodic, but a little too loud.Try a little delay at 1/8 and with at least 2 or 3 feadback. 1/8 is the speed of the hi hats.
It will make it more smooth.
Dud - Keep eating that Mushroom soup:reefanana: It was actually good..I like that power chords and the rest too.

Sorry I haven't had much of a chance to hear everyone's takes, but I finally took the time to do that.
Eric - Very Nice original melody. Great articulation :thumb:
Neal - Great stereo whispers! I really liked the melody section from 0:33 to 1:02
Pete - Great feel on that one, bro. Very nice melody section!
siN - Dude, your articulation is greatly improved here! Very nice!
Scali - I love how that melody fits in with the jam - you made it sound like it belongs there, even though it's not an original melody. Articulation sounds great through your rig. I like your chops, bro
Farl - Nice tone for this jam! Good stuff from you - rock on, bro!
John - You're sound better and better every time, man. Sounds like you're starting to find some good sounds out of that G9.2tt. Your articulation has improved as well! Looks like you're making a great recovery from your CTS.
Guitarpima - Dude, your articulation is improved substantially, bro! Dig it
Zane - That take rocks, man! There was a slight amount of latency in a couple of places on your newer version, but otherwise sound friggin great.
Dude - That was electric, my friend! Shroom on
Zombo - Very smooth - those harmonies are cool, bro! Very nice original melody, and use of tremolo bar. :thumb:

Here's my take on it...I also purposely didn't listen to any one else's take before I did this, and I'm glad...each and every one is absolutely STUNNING!! I probably would have just dropped out for fear of not measuring up! It's been a really long time since I've recorded anything, I've been waaaay stressed out at work and just not up it, but I'm starting to feel it again, so consider yourselves warned, I'll probably be posting a lot more in the future...:arrrgh:
Steve's beautiful and haunting backer reminded me a lot of a couple of great Rush tunes, Different Strings and Available Light, so I kinda paid homage to Alex Lifeson a bit here with the squeals and the whammy madness at the end. Hope you like it!
Steve(dak),
Love the squeals and the very creative melodylines, especially in the middle part. Great whammyfeel! Good work and thanks for sharing!
