Spent last night in the company of the Scorpions and Judas Priest at the Manchester Apollo - great gig!
Scorpions were brilliant (no "another Piece of Meat" tho'?) and were given a better reception/encore cheer than Priest - totally justified imho! Great guitar work and Klaus showed what a great rock singer he really is! Intended to do a set list but... didn't know all the songs, and am just a forgetful old bugger and have zero memory capacity any more! Did do "Loving you sunday morning!"
Priest were loud! Great stage show and overall a pretty good set. I stopped buying their albums by "British Steel" so not really familiar with "newer stuff" - they got too heavy for my tastes after that, but played some old stuff, Ripper, Beyond the Realms of Death, Green Manalishi, Hell Bent For Leather, Diamonds & Rust (all coming back to me now..). Lots of the audience were old buggers like me and I think some of the newer screamier metal lost them as well - but hey! Overall- a monster gig and the Priest showing what Metal is all about! The Scorpions, who surely deserve their own tour, reminded us how to Rock and Roll!!
