I have been asked to perform at the inaugural Guitar Heroes:Guitar Fest in Sydney. The festival and expo run from Sept 28 to Oct 1, so I'm hoping to have gigs in Perth before then, but here's some info on the festival:

Annual event from now on! Cool!
Be sure to make some pics and tell us the mean stories!
Sounds nice! Have fun on there!

We will definitely be getting as much imagery as possible while we're over there. :-)
With a bit of luck, there will be shots from local gigs before we go, as well. :p

They've just put the festival back a week, because it was coinciding with two very big football grand finals here in Oz. It now runs October 5th, 6th and 7th, the 7th being my birthday... :-)
That gives you an extra week's paddling time, Zeussemeister... lol. :-)

Happy, that rules dude! Congrats! Need a roadie? Maybe I'll fly out there and hang with ya...don't tempt me. ;0
Have to see if I can arrange a business trip to Sydney that just happens to coincide with that. Looks a good line-up. Are you involved in the guitar festival that Greg Dodge is trying to get going in Brisbane this year?

Danny - Yes, I need a roadie. Get your ass down here. Celebrate my birthday with me. Let's hang. Let's jam. Let's scare people. :-)
Blue - No mate, I'm not involved in that one. Perry (Ormsby Guitars) was looking at it, but the times weren't good for his manufacturing schedule.
Zeusse - How about Danny and I doing a rousing rendition of Scarified? :-P
Am I teasing? Yes I am! :-P
Bluesgeek - We will be in Sydney from the 26th of September for rehearsals and stuff, so if you email me around that time, I'll give you my mobile number.
I reckon I can get your name on the door at the Oct. 7th gig, which is a guitar competition (I'm a guest judge) followed by yours truly in concert.

Got a few more details last night. :-)
While I was setting up at rehearsals (God, I miss my roadies), I got a call from Sydney telling me I'd be performing as a special guest with the Guitar Heroes Band at the big opening gig of the festival.
This made me very happy.
Then I was told the special guest bass player standing next to me would be Bob Daisley.
This made every orifice in my body slam shut.
I'm good with it now, though... :jump:
Bluesgeek, that'll be Friday the 5th of October at the Bridge Hotel. The doors will probably open around 7pm, but I don't know any other times.
There is now a GH:GF MySpace page for updates:

That is all. Carry on. :geek:

Are you gonna be able to get over there Bluesgeek? Christ, I'd love to see it. One of the forums I'm on finding out about the visa for emmigrating....theres always some dope on there saying why its crap in Oz...one of the reasons is the lack of good gigs over there...I'm gonna post the details of this on there to shut the git up I reckon!!!

.....never let me hear you say you don't get the rockstar treatment Graham..LOL I'd love to look beside me and see Bob Daisley the only problem is he would look back and say who's this nutcase..:orange:

I say that when he posts next to me ;) makes me look sane though
Yep I'm hoping to get over for the gig, its just a short hop for me and tickets are pretty cheap. Only problem is that we're in China for 3 weeks leading up to it so I'll have to talk nicely to the missus and also make sure I have some cash when I get back! So I'd better not come back with too many electricity guitars, or rather just come back with the JS1200 I'm going to pick up (finally!)....

Stay tuned, and I'll let you know what he says when he gets a load of me...
...probably something along the lines of:
"Gaaaaaaaaaaagghhh!! It moved!! Gross!! Keep it awaaaaay!!!"

I have a DVD of him playing with Tim Gaze and Jon Lord in a bluesy band called the Hoochie Coochie Men. He seems very laid back.

Okay... The house is a mess, there's gear everywhere, but we're slowly getting ready to hop on the giant silver bird to fly to the other side of the country tomorrow night. I have a week of rehearsals, interviews and a media launch, then we're into the festival - three gigs, two expo appearances, judging a guitar competition and doing a clinic in three days. If I can remember my name after all that, I'll be doing pretty well, I reckon. :p
We will have our trusty laptop with us to stay up with emails and stuff, so if I get a minute, I'll drop in with a report from the festival. If not, I'll lay a rave on you when I get home. Stay safe, and don't do anything I wouldn't do on a bike.
Peace,
G.

Hey guys,
After a week in Sydney preparing for the festival, we are now at the business end of proceedings. My first gig is tonight, and I'm as ready as I'm gonna get. The band is sounding schitt hot, and we've already met some amazing people. If I don't get a chance to get back online before the end of the festival, know that I'm doing my best, and I'm thinking of you all. :-)
man i wish i was there, sydney is a cool city anyway.
if you get a chance to walk around hyde park see if the guy with the stick with the gum on the end is still trying to fish coins out of the gutters.
good luck with the gigs :thumb:

We've only been off the plane for a few hours, but I had to drop in and tell you that we blew the place away. :-P The band made me so proud I could crack a sternum, and a personal compliment from Bob Daisley made my tour. :wnw: The guy still has it in spades, and the welcome we received from industry and public alike was humbling. I'll edit and post some pics as soon as I recover my equilibrium. Thanks to you all, guys - you rock in a sublime fashion! :-)
