So yea...I've been looking to start recording and I got Acid Pro 6.0 off of a torrent but it seems pretty complicated. What programs do you guys use and are they pretty simple to use? Thanks.

I use Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro 2 and it is very intuitive. The interface looks just like a hardware setup with volume sliders, panning knobs, record buttons, mute buttons etc

Thanks! I'll look it up.

Hehe...only version I found was Tracks Pro 3, guess I'll try that.

Cubase le at the moment (Came with my soundcard and is pretty good)

Takes a bit of getting up and running but is easy to use and can be very powerful with some work learning it (I have some videos lessons - They are for SX but most of it is the same)

Yeah, it's all fairly straight forward, you'll soon get used to it.

If you're still looking Tracktion is a great program particularly for people who are new to recording. Very easy to drive but has a lot of depth if you need it.

If you want complete and super easy control using clip envelopes for volume and panning in a multitracking mode, I'd have to recommend Adobe Audition. You can also create automatic fade ins and fade out with the Crossfade feature, without altering the original audio file. It just shows up on the track as a clip envelope. However, I've been using Sonar 4 Producer edition for recording with Revalver.

Sonar 6 Producer Edition here. It's not cheap, but it does everything.

What you chose to go with will depend on how many features and tracks you need and whether you need midi compatibility, plug-ins, etc. It's all there in lots of packages from a multitude of vendors. Lots come bundled free with audio cards, which can be found very cheaply these days. That route can be an easy way to get a decent setup with the software thrown in.

There is one that is even more simple and free. it's called: Audacity. Just type the name in Google and you should be able to download it.

Cubase for me and Adobe Audition 2... Cubase can take a bit of getting used to at first (I think cakewalk is easier) but after that its all good :)

there will be a learning curve whatever you choose but dont let that put you off. i highly recomend cubase sx3 and nuendo 3. there are others that are just as capable like sonar 6. both cubase and sonar are quite straight forward to use and both are equally very powerfull i choose cubase as i prefere the interface

Thanks for all the help guys, I decided to go with Guitar Pro Tracks 3 since it's the only thing I could really "get my hands on" and I've been messing around with it, I've gotten pretty used to the interface and like how everything is setup. I'm still working the kinks out to get used to everything, but I love it so far.

I use Cubase SX3 for general recording and mixing guitars etc;
When I record my voice and want to mix I have just gone back to Adobe Audition the presets on there are absolutely amazing and make your voice stand out so well!!
