Or has this site changed since I first joined. It seems that people don't participate as much anymore (I have been guilty lately). Everyone seems to be here and only paying attention to what they are doing and who cares about anyone else unless they happen to be the best players. Maybe that's what the shredding thread is really all about?

When I joined every participated and offered advice or admiration for the work whatever skill level. Now no one follows through and there seems to be animosity brewing everywhere.

STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!11

Just play the guitar and have fun! That's what brought me here in the first place. It kept me coming back. I realize that more and more people are joining this site and it takes a while to go through the threads and everyone works. It seems that people say they will participate and then don't.

I am posting this in protest of Steve and Eric leaving the site. I don't know what happened but there seems to be a communication breakdown and stubbornness is ruling.

I agree with you GP. I just wanna have fun and play my guitar. I am very sad that Steve and Eric have chosen to leave but it's their decision at the end of the day.

Why dont you post up a cool jam and we'll all get rocking again. Which is what we all enjoy the most.

Yep I agree with your sentiments entirely - unfortunately I've been pretty busy until recently then I felt I should do some guitar playing catchup, so have posted 3 or 4 things recently but only downloaded/listened/commented on the things that really interested me :(

I must confess to not having listened to a lot of other peoples stuff just lately. There are times in a persons life when other things take priority but I usually manage to find a bit of spare time to catch up. One thing I always do, and everyone should do, is have the decency to make a comment about anything you do listen to.
As for posting any of my own stuff, be it an original, cover version or participation in a jam, the truth is I have hardly played the guitar for the last couple of weeks let alone recorded anything. My heart just hasn't really been in it but sure enough the fire will get stoked again, I just need something to inspire me.

I would like to do more but time is a problem. I am trying to play guitar, bass, keys, and learning drums at the moment (And work does get in the way too)
I think this board has been and still is pretty cool.
I will try to do more psoting and do a jam or two

the actual lack of any sunny weather for weeks, when people are looking forward to it can lead to a form of depression, my speedos have not seen daylight this year and I am sure that is depressing my neighbours because I usually parade round the garden in them during the good weather making them smile and be happy. :-)

I personally think this site as well as others, goes through hot and cold seasons. Sometimes people are active, other times they just kinda lurk and check things out. I belong to quite a few sites where I comment on various musical endeavors like I do here...as well as have a life and quite a bit going on in my music career. Sometimes it's difficult to check out everything on every site I belong to and sometimes maybe people don't want to comment on something simply because, maybe they they didn't like it or maybe they didn't want to offend the person that offered a tune up.

But speaking for myself, I have no problems if someone messages me and asks me to check out something they've done and asks for honest feedback. Feel free to bring things to my attention if need be....but I don't think anyone should feel they HAVE to do anything other than read and keep to themselves if that is their wish. Sometimes life gets busy and websites and our net buddies have to take a back seat. Other times, it's our reason to live and we do all that we can. Just my take on it.

You know the written word can be taken so many ways as there is no body language to let you know what is really meant
That can make boards a place where misunderstandings can happen.
We all share a passion and I for one would rather not comment than be negative about other peoples music. I actively invite comments on my stuff but understand that not all want to comment.
This board is by far the best I have been on and it is a shame that some people have chosen to leave. I respect their decision and hope they will be back soon.
Danny makes great points above and we started out with a heated discussion on copyright but I think we listened and responded to each other with valid arguements and took on board each others views.
I have not been able to do jams much lately but really want to. Life is too busy these days and that is the major problem
This is a great board with great people (Check some other out and you will see what I mean). lets not be too hard on each other and keep the board being the best

Well said Mike, I completely agree. And also let me say I agree with what you said about our heated discussion. You taught me quite a lot in that thread. Restraint, reading more thoroughly and accepting and listening to someone that feels as strongly as I do on the other side of the fence is what first comes to my mind. I'm just happy to have made a friend out of that who had a cooler head than I did when responding. Again I'm sorry for that....we both sure did learn alot though and all of our points were valid. ;)

Well, to answer the oriiginal question as to "has the site changed" I would say no but perhaps a couple of people did and that is just life. I like a few others here do my best to participate in as many of the jams where I feel that I am competent enough to have a bash. I comment on everyone that I listen too and try to listen to as many as possible. I also try to find something encouraging to say to anyone who takes part in a jam that I organise even when with one of them (back to basicks blues) attracted about 20 players! LOL I guess we all get a little stale at times and, whenever I have mentioned that I was a bit flat in the past there were always positive and encouraging posts that came back and I'll bet the same would apply if I posted today that I had hit a brick wall. The thing (as Mike said) is that posts can be emotionless and misinterprited. Also, to a certain degree we are all faceless individuals here on planet 6SH. I guess that if you met me you would think that I was way different to the posts you read! In reality, I am a shy quiet person with not much guitaring confidence. Playing live would be a torture for me but.... after encouragement from this site, I am happy for you guys to hear and comment on my playing. It was 100% 6SH that enabled me to do this. For this reason, I posted an open "for all to read" thankyou to Rick the other day for giving me the kick up the pants to get guitaring again. For the very same reason, I will continue (in my many guises!) to try to encourage others in their quest to play guitar. Has the site changed, really?? Well possibly.... it is better than it was a couple of years ago and I now have many more people that I would like to think of as friends.

Why would Steve and Eric leave?

Let's just say 'there was some dissent in the ranks' and leave it at that.

We're all bummed out about it but decisions have been made, time to move on.

another thing, i checked the stats and for the last 3 months the site had about 800k hits per month when it usually gets over a million. this month its already hit that half way through.
