Well it's been a hell of a long time since we had one of these so I decided to resurrect it and challenge you guys to do some melodic noodling to this. We recently had a clean tone challenge from Highway Star and thought I would follow on from that with this Eaglesey type backer. I know it may not be the kind of track that some of you would chose and thats just the reason I chose it. Hopefully it'll give everyone a challenge and we will also see some of the new members having a go. As for all the longer standing members, no excuses get recording!!!!!

I hope a few you have a crack at this.

So download the backer and get your best noodling hat on. When we have a few entries in we'll have a poll and pick a winner. It's all in fun though, so please have a crack at it and show us how versatile you can be.

Closing date will be Sat 4th August.

Cheers.

Zapp !!

I did a little tweeking to this track and was able to tame that snare. I don't know what you call it when you hold the butt of the stick on the drum and hit the rim. I guess it is sort of a rim shot but I know rim shots are different. Anyway I had to do it so I could live without a headache.

Any suggestions about tweeking and I can fix them, Maybe?

I will give it a crack too I just hope we can get enough to vote on it !!

Shame the regulars members arent having a crack at this. Thought it would entice them, maybe they just arent good enough. :-)

Cheers though Zombo, look forward to hearing your crack at it.

I'll have something... This one needs some serious lyrics, but I would need some extra time for that.

Lyrics eh ?? I hadn't thought about that, but I might have a crack at that too.

Just seen this and without even downloading it you can put my name in. If you selected the BT then it is bound to be a cracker.

Hey Farl, I likes that a lot mate. Sometimes it's good to be out of that comfort zone, makes you think about things from a different perspective. Lovely tones and very flowing licks you used there. I am well impressed mate and thanks for having a go.

Cheers guys! The old Fender USA Strat came out of the box for this one. Weird really, I rarely use it but I quite enjoyed playing it for a change! I used the neck pick up and through the Gearbox "Bad" preset with a bit of extra "stomp". I added reverb after recording and hey preresto! I used to take ages to pick a tone but I go with the flow real quick now and more often than not I get what I feel sounds OK.

Thanks for listening and commenting.

Thanks to Neal for providing a great backer to noodle over! A real pleasure to jam on. I still think this would be a great one to place some vocals over, though.

I'm not completely happy with my take, though. It's a bit commercial sounding IMHO. Anyway, my take:

Rick L matey!! You should be real pleased with that! Nice bit of twin as Neal said but also a real laid back feel! Damn! I want to change mine now!! LOL I did it in a real rush and yours has given me a few ideas! I'll stick with my first effort though but next time I may just go for a couple of Rick L runs! Very cool!

This definitely is a track for lyrics, but I might give this one a shot, been playing with it for about an hour and it's tough - I don't know if I can come up with enough quality 'guitaring' to fill up the track ;)

Here's my crack at it , this was actually was much harder than I thought, but I gave it go.

For those who may be remotely interested I used my Tascam 2488 Mulitrack for the recording on this. For the electric guitar parts I used my JJ Hucke Sahara, through my Boss GT6 for a couple of the bits and the Digitech 2101 for another. The acoustic, my Yamaha APX7, was plugged straight into the desk and I just added some reverb and EQ from the onboard effects.

Neal.

As for Norm's tasty remark, unless your sister is older than Nostradamus she probabaly wont remember it or have a clue. Norm has been reincarnated many times and sometimes quotes adverts that he read in the small ad's in the back pages of the dead sea scrolls :-)

Nice one Zappa. I like the contrasts between the accoustic and electric.

Very laid back Rick. Well put together.

Nice use of motives Kirk. I like your tone a lot.
