OK, You all know that LZ were and still are my favourite band of all time so... a challenge!! Since I've been lovin' you is a long track but lends itself to a bit of freestyle. I've not played it before but I got a BT for it a little while back!
So... Who will challenge me?

Are we doing that tune or can we do our own tune we like?
Not sure how a challenge is supposed to work. Do we have to play it like the original? If not I'll have a crack.
Hmmmm.... I wonder if I can "Jack-up" another classic....???
:th_36_5_5:
Its been a while since I done a cover I dont mind a crack, any chance of the BT Norm :peace:

Right....
The rules....
Yes, The challenge is for that particular song
No, you do not have to play like the original but...
You have to use the 7 minute backing track provided...
Add singing if you want to or feel you have the voice
Keep your entry until advised to send it by an e-mail address that I will privide
You have 2 weeks from today to complete that is November the 9th! Anything after that date will be too late!! You have been warned! LOLGood luck guys, It is a long one!

Ha well, I had it done, listened back and thought that I didn't like one particular bit so.... I thought I would re-do it and, true to form, I never kept my settings so, I think what I've done sounds sort of OK but there is about 4 seconds where the tones don't match! LOL Oh well, we'll see who notices!
Remember guys, entries in by the 9th Nov...

yeah unfortunately I don't think I've got time to finish it by Friday, have to do some work :( and I'm away this weekend so an extension would be no good!
Im hoping to do it in a one take wankery fest sometime this week, not a lot of time with work etc. plus I cant find a tone I am happy with. :8000:

I think as long as you got the main parts to it down you can fill in with the rest, I have had a good look at the original and newer takes by mr page and to be honest it sounds different each time he plays it. One thing has happened since trying to learn this one, I have realised I much prefer the stuff that originally got me into playing the guitar, Zep Clapton Hendrix etc... It never gets old and in 30 years time I think this stuff will still be listened to and inspiring people to play. :5:

You know I think you are spot on in so many ways! The "old" stuff is what I cut my teeth on so to speak and I still know loads of guitarists that turn to that material to get inspiration or learn specific licks and runs. Try putting on a Razorlight album and picking out something to copy or the Killers or somethink like that. Will anyone know a Killers song in 30 years time? I doubt it! As for Mr Page changing it, yep, a couple of main licks stay the same but that is about all. My version has all sorts in it and... I had to fill in the bit that was supposed to be singing so... I ain't that truthful to the original track in fact.... I have 2 versions of the original but I can not find either of them so I listened to a "Live" version on Youtube! LOL

I'm living in a motel room most of this week (your mother says to say hi Norman) so I won't get it done.
I'm still hopeful I can squeeze in a couple hours in the studio...
But I'll have to warn you now - I don't follow directions very well.
It's an authority issue, left over from the '70's...

I appologize, Farl... I've had quite a week; no time for fun!
I did get into the studio for an hour yesterday, and laid down the backing tracks... (Ooops, did I mention, I'm making my own backer?), but I still have the various bass, keys, and guitar parts to record, as well as the vocals (!)....
I'm not usually this slow (or anal about the production) but its been hard getting time to record, not to mention trying to quiet the voices in my head...
:hammer:
I have every reason to believe I'll have a finished product for you on Monday! (and I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today)....
I picked a bad day to quit sniffing glue...

Hell man, you are really going for it! Second place for me then!
Tuesday it is!
Norman's Mum (sometimes....)
OK, I locked Mum in the attic, and spent a few hours in the studio...
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy...
I had hoped to do more with this, but I can see I just won't find the time, so what I've managed to record here will have to do... The good news is, compared to this, everything I do later will sound brilliant!
I'm afraid I have no reasonable explanation for this... but the voices have quieted some, for now.

Hell Jack! An entireley new version! Loved it! A great Punk vibe in parts to the guitaring and some great vocals! That is going to make mine sound very traditional! LOL Mind you.... it is very traditional! Have a listen. No vocals but that's because my voice is a shocker!
Any more for this? I'll be setting up a poll tomorrow.

Very interesting Jack. Well thought out with an alternative take to it. Well done!
Well done Norman! You obviously know this one well. I enjoyed it a lot. I guess you forgot to be a tune murderer.
Norman, absolutely brilliant!

Oh well.... because I hadn't heard from you I figured you were not going to get to it. It is a long track and requires a bit of time. Anyway, Jack and I got it done and a poll has been set up! So.... if you get a chance... Give them a listen!
