This time there is a backer with just drums - you have to create your own bass and guitar parts. There also must be rhythm and lead. Add anything else to that if you want, and modify the backer how you wish. All entries must be at least 1:30 long and be original compositions!. You have 3 weeks to come up with an entry(Jan 24), then it's poll time!
Good luck!

Is this just a BT or did you make it with midi loops? If it is a midi, could you post the midi?

What are the exact rules? Do bass, rhythm and lead all have to be played on guitars? Or is it okay to have some parts played by other instruments, as long as there is a guitar part?
Eg, if I played rhythm on guitar, but bass on a synth, and the lead melody with a saxophone? Would that be okay?

You can do bass with a synth - that's what I'm going to do. All guitar parts are regular guitar, though

lead on a saxaphone...how dare you even suggest such a thing, only joking

As long as it's done on a guitar, and you can make it sound like a sax, lol...

I made some drum tracks ages ago and this sounds like one of them if it is then they are made from loops consisting of some 20 seconds or so!!
If this is not the drum track I made then I apologize Rick !!

I think it came from a drum loop program, but I can't remember which. I didn't create it, I guess it came as a demo of the program. I just can't remember which program it was, lol. At the time I was going through a lot of different drum loop programs to see which one would work out best.

As mentioned on the first post, you're allowed to modify the backer...
Hey Rick, I've managed to embarrass myself with this one! :cheeky1:
Do I post it up, or wait for your word??? Thanks...
Rick_Lamoreaux

Wait for the word
I was thinking that lnstead of having you guys email me your bits and then have me post them, I'll post my bit first and then have everyone else post theirs. What do you guys think about that?

Actualy my daughter is doing a school project and after a chat about how she views certain aspects of how the world works and this is I guess a dark subject that most parents won't discuss with their kids. More or less she has seen a lot of horror stories around this town with other girls that lost focus on the things that are important in life and this is one tragedy that happens far too often in society..so rather her be confused about anything I decided to do the lyrics the way we really view this subject. Her final word was Yukk!! after all the sorted scummy details of that life were revealed to her. I did struggle trying to figure out how the heck to fit all this in with that drum track.....it was a fun challenge none the less..thanks for the kind comments..maybe there is hope for my vocals..LOL

Looking forward to this! I like my track but I had a hard time with some of the leads. Got a nice bass line and finally was able to find a tone I liked for the bass.

I think that, with what's going on at home at the moment, I will not be able to post anything. Should have done it earlier but I doubt I'll get a chance for a few days. Sorry Rick.
I'll vote though....

I unfortunately haven't had much time myself, since my wife is sick and I've been busy with chores around the house, but I do have something that I'm going with, I just have to finish it up. If anybody wants to post their's, go right ahead. Since this is my challenge, I guess I need to participate in it! Getting my bit is going to be challenging to have completed by tonight, but I'll give it my best shot. There also has to be at least one contender for Zeusse, so I may have to extend the deadline!

Ok Rick. I hope your wife feels better soon.
I hope you all like this. I am happy with the track but I wish I could have done the lead better.
Enjoy!

There are 3 parts to my track and one bass.
Just listened to your track Jack. I like the hook. It had an 80's vibe to it. Very cool track!

For the sake of fostering more participation and giving me the ability to participate in my own challenge, lol - we'll wait until Sunday to create the poll.
Thanks to everyone for participating! Great stuff posted so far!
GP - Dark and macabre sounding... What was your inspiration for this tune?
Jack - very 70ish 80's sounding music, lol - I like the wah and you're sure those weren't keyboards, lol? What was your inspiration with this backer?
Guitarpima

Thanks for listening Rick. I had a series of emotions in mind. Anger, guilt and sadness or repentant. Funny though, I never heard of macabre until you mentioned it. I just looked it up. I guess your right. The hard part was making it so the drum fill were in a good spot.

The synth sound in the middle of the track is a plug-in that takes a single voice (my guitar, in this case) and does a filter effect on it, similar to a vocoder, but different!
:eh:
Inspiration??? Hmmmm... I was trying to get a riff to fit within the drum track... I thought the riff I came up with sounded
a bit "Cream-ish", so I went with it!
I think the synth-thing sounds like a classic Keith Emerson synth!
I'm diffenitely well rooted in 70's - early 80's rock - and I don't fight the feelin'!!!
