I'm wondering what everyone's recommendation would be on the following.
An eletric guitar that:
-has great tone whether being played clean or all out metal distorted.
-has an excellent tremelo but not a floater and stays in tune when using the trem.
-does not have a standard strat style body. Something more along the line of a V (like Jackson), Mockingbird, Iceman, Warlock, I love the body of the ESP F50.

I'm thinking about getting rid of my Steinberger to either trade or to sell to buy a new guitar.

now thats a challenge!
i have no vested interest in this but i did play a maverick over at guitarzone (chris's house) that might fit the bill!
it had great tone weird shape etc, just can't remember if it was a one way trem as i played 4 or 5 different mav's anyway he comes on here virtually everyday or his website is www.guitarzone.co.uk.

Maverick guitars are real rock monsters - currently receiving excellent reviews in the british Press. They are brit designed and assembled, although most of manufacture goes on in Korea. The X1 has an explorer style body with real hot pickups but also cuts it clean. I also have a simplified version, with just a volume control and active pickups. These do have Floyd Rose trems, but are quality and very stable. Main feature? Amazing necks!! Play like a dream, and are also a bit different. Have unique roller volume/tone controls. As Rick says - check out my site for more details or check out www.maverickguitars.com.

It definately looks awesome. Are the knobs recessed and sideways? That's how it looks. How difficult does that make it to quickly turn volume up and down?

It's a shame that $800 US is way out of my range!

Actually roller controls, rather than knobs, and yes they are recessed.

Once used to it, just a quick flick of the finger adjusts controls.
