Hi guys, I'm looking to sell some of my stuff on eBay and I thought I would create this thread so people could post up tips and such, which would help the sale of an item.

Looking forward to hearing some suggestions!

don't skimp on good quality photos from differnt angles leaves the buyer sattisfied that you are not hiding anything. Be as detailed as you can about a product but not so much that the buy get lost in it all.

Use Buy It Now at rice you would be comfortable something going but use the reserve feature so you don't end up selling at auction for price you ain't happy with. Insist on paypal or at very least cheque but nothing else and cheque would have to clear before goods released. Be prompt dispatching and if any delays eg.postage strike or you missed the collection just tell the buyer asap so they don't get frustrated....and above all enjoy the experience!!!

Good Photo's. I'm amazed at folk that try to sell stuff with poor quality pics. Use a good camera in good light and you are pounds up!

You are so right Rob
Listing fees, final sales valuation fees & then paypal get's it's pound of flesh before you get what's left.

Consider when your target market are most likely to be online and set your auction to close at that time/day.

The best bargains I've had usually closed at silly times, like 9:35 on a Wednesday morning.

find the item you are selling on line at a dear price and link it to your page saying "see what this costs new, get a bargain" do not send an item untill you have the money...no exceptions.

Start bidding at .99 with no reserve, it will stir interest get people bidding and watching at first to try to take on the cheap. It'll end up an all out war to win the bid as people get personally invested in the quest. Just check any item that has several listings, there will be more bids and action on the ones with no reserve and a minimum starting price and they will end up selling for as much or more than the ones with a higher starting price. The key is to draw them in and get them to compete with each other.

I sell a lot on e-bay and I think the following helps things sell.

Get good photos of what you want to sell.
Check if any other similar items are for sale and for how much so you are not over priced.
Set a reserve if there is a price you won't sell for less than
Get a good feedback score (above 98%) - This takes time to do but is essential
Get a verified paypal account setup as that gives buyers the ability to pay you with less risk
Fully describe the item including condition
Lastly communications are important, answer any questions as soon as possible.

Hope that helps

All I can suggest is that you set up a gallery picture it costs a bit extra but it catches peoples eyes also let that be your best picture!
When taking a picture go outside where there is a good light rather than using a flash on your camera get a good background but your item you are selling has to be the main thing.
If I buy a car then I go by how it looks the same is with your item!!
