I had my frets redone on my Ibanez because of buzzing everywhere. I get it back and I figured the strings are stretching and that's why it's not staying in tune after using the whammy. The locking nut was loose! I tightend it up and guess what? it stays in tune but the open strings buzz. Now I have to take the nut off and shim it. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I wish I had a gapper. For that matter to be able to see the gap. Probably a thin piece of construction paper or something a little thicker should do the trick.

Surely if you have paid for the refret they would set the thing up once it was done. Sounds like a bit of poor job if they haven't.

I had my Heritage H150CM in for a fret dress, came back setup with a new set of strings, cleaned and lemon oiled neck and they even gave the thing a thorough polish and shine. What I call a 'proper job' and all for £40 at a Heritage dealers.

there are always advantages to doing your own gear stuff, though I'd stop a little short of fret change....thinking about it I have done one though :ee:

Has anyone seen graeme321 or whatever his name was who was the guitar tech? He lives an hour or less away from me and I wanted him to go over my washburn but never heard hide nor hair from him. Anyway GP I agree with Zap that would have thought a setup was part of a more complex job like a refret so I would go back. I think there is saying "the customer is always right"

I'm definitly letting him know about it. I agree though, he should have been more thorough. I know they guys is always swamped with work though. He is directly accross the street from Berklee COM Boston. I've been all over the different towns around my area and most everyone takes their guitars to him.

As far as the fretjob, it is great. I'm happy with my Ibanez again. So no worries really. I was upset last night is all.
