A very small valve amp is the way to go for in the house 5watt or maybe 8watt, I would just go digital then you can play into the comp and have headphones on and not wake the kids, I never use a real amp in the house.

You could go for a modelling amp from the likes of Line6 or Marshall. Both do stuff at a reasonable price. It really depends on the style of music you intend to play as to which amp / modelling pedal route you got down though.
The Hughes and Kettner is a great amp modelling and tubes/valves!!!

Theres a Blackheart as well as an Epiphone with a 5 watt tube amp and a 12in speaker. I saw a review on the blackheart. It looks pretty cool.

yep seen that one to i will have to check reviews out on both
sg, hmmm
100 watt marshall plexi and 2 4x12's should be a good starting point.
you could always add to it later as and when the feeling took you.

for a small valve practice amp, try the epi valve junior, cheap as chips. Or go for an Orange Tiny Terror...
Or the plexi and full stack :) I've always found 100 watts sufficient for home use ;)

I'm into easy paint removal as well, and there is NOTHING better than a dimed Marshall.
LMAO!!!!!!

I got a small Marshall Stack Amp - 15w because it was there in the shop and i`m too lazy and impatient to hunt more!
My mate, who also has an SG, is actually in the process of sourcing/buying a 100w + full valve amp which he intends to use in his house....a bit of overkill possibly and i`m sure his neighbours will love him! Would be pretty sweet though!! :cheeky1:

I did have a JCM800 100watt head with two EL34s pulled, into a 1960 cab in the front room for a while. Sounded a little weedy tbh at low levels, and a gentle waft nearby would cause the slightest tremor of the volume knob and the windows would fall out. I've got a two watt valve amp that's good for normal rooms, and a 15watt valve amp that can crush bricks.

Just bought a Hughes and Kettner 15r amp. Small but a big sound. They also do the 15 watt with effects and also both at 30 watt and 60 watt
I have been impressed so far. Hell of a big amp sound at low volumes.
Find one at a store and try it out, you'll be impressed too I think
