View Full Version : hendrix time
me and rob are going to do stone free.
but i can't find a backer, anyway if anybody wants to join in and we will have a big old hendrix battle put your names in here.
IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE STONE FREE IT CAN BE ANY HENDRIX TRACK AND YOU CAN PLAY IT IN ANY STYLE YOU WISH.
however If anybody has a stone free BT email or upload it here please.
couple or 3 things, if you can't don't put your name down because i'll hound you if you don't get a track up.
if you are reading this and think hmm this sounds cool, then don't just read it, get of your arse and play one then send it in.
it would be nice to see a good turn out on this one...
DON'T POST YOUR FINISHED VERSIONS IN THIS THREAD, INSTEAD EMAIL THEM TO ME.
yea I can't find a BT either, the original is in standard tuning though I think :-)
ooh, stone free. I played this one with teh band at the Big Gig. I'll have to see if Dunc's got the video.
no worries if one doesn't turn up rob, just do any track.
I figured stone free would be kinda cool though and it is a shit hot track...
Maybe try and make one from midi, I will give it a whirl need to revisit Zaps vid tutorials for Sonar :-)
what about Fire got a backer for it.
How does it go again? lol. I'll youtube it and see what it is like.

hopefully wont be long...i cant wait much longer to join in these jams.
if i get a chance in the week to use a studio at college, i'll have a jam at a hendrix track with a drummer and bassist and post it up.

I can make a BT of Stone Free for you. It will have to wait a few days though. Just drums and bass? Standard or Eb tuning.
cheers robert!
i don't mind, i think the original might have been standard but it doesn't matter which.

Hi Rick,
My version of "The Wind Cries Mary" has been e-mailed to you complete with my dodgy crooning! Could have been a Song in a Day entry as well. 41/2 hours from learing to posting.
I put it here for a while then noticed you "DONT POST IT IN THIS THREAD" bit at the start. Sorry, I don't think anyone noticed though.

Bluesgeek, er not sure but he was going to murder some tune! LOL
That was about it I think. 7 would be good but a couple more would be better. How about Zombo's Vodoo Chile? Visco said he may have a go as well.
A cut off date would be good as well though. Don't want another ZZ Top job....

Ha! Nope, I don't think you are holding it up, I just think there should be a clear cut off date that is not hugeley into the distance but far enough to get your PC sorted. Anyhow, you are not holding it up yet because, at present, you only have Rob's and mine done.... LOL
Farl
woah, No stone free from me, can't get the video.
I'll try another Hendrix track though (must think of one)

well, we got in the studio and set up, but never got around to playing a hendrix track all the way through.
it was a long time since we'd played together so we just jammed for ages.
i will have a look and see how much of manic depression we got through and if it's worth it, post it up tomorrow.
Got meself a Fire backer but think i'll ahve to wait for licklibrary lesson as I am stumped already lol....don't worry though Santa's helper is on the case

Lyle, Fire
Gummy, Manic Depression
Farl, The Wind Cries Mary
That's about it I think. 5 is a bit low but enough for a vote a couple more would be better though especially as 20 members have read this thread. Zapp? (Hey Joe?) RickL? Visco? Zombo? (Vodoo Chile?) Stew? (Fire perhaps?) GP? Big Doug? (an unplugged version of "All aAlong the Watchtower"?) Lyles Dad? Barry? Reaper? Robbo1? RD? Six? Steve Bee? Come on fella's we all know the tracks and believe me... they are not that hard! LOL
Come on you owners!! Lead the way!
Let's have a couple more and quickly please. Folk will loose interest if it doesn't get done soon.
A cut off date would be good as well though. Don't want another ZZ Top job, that took about 12 weeks!
Farl
cut off date is! exactly 2 days from this post!!!
you have 2 days.
don't go mental learning it, just sit your arses down and play it..

I was thinking about "All along the watchtower" - it only has three chords, and, you don't even have to learn it. But, is that cheating?

they better be or I am in trouble lol. I am sure there must be more to them than 3 chords though perhaps a teeny tiny bit of improv too...I shall check the Ganny Dill videos I have.
Didn't he burn his fingers in a Gypsy caravan and just play with two fingers man?? Two fingers and three chords!! Far out!! Django Marshall Hendrix right? Band of Pikeys!! Far out!
Dude

I meant the rhythm stuff stew :-)
That's mine done!
what song did you do?
Fire, but a bit different
this finishes tonight, lets say 10pm uk time.
i'll get to uploading the tracks tomorrow, probably before all the uk chaps are out of bed.
so if you fancy a late entry just knock one up right now.
you have 7 hours.

ok its closed now.
i'll upload the tracks a little later on when i get back home, i was going to upload this morning but i have to go to work early, huge hole to dig so it has to be started before the sun goes mental.
