here are the hendrix challenge tracks.
i was sure there was one more but i'm damned if i can find it.
They are in the order you see so:
Stonedfree = Stone Free (or Rob...)
Fire = Lyle
The Wind Cries Mary = Farl

Rob Ha! That opening note!! Loved the licks as well! I'm gonna give that a few listens and learn a couple of them myself! Nice one matey! The soft track Vox in the background was OK as well, it brought out just how well you had learnt the track!
Lyle Very hard to critique this. Your playing was so cool it beggars belief! A couple of gaps where the vox should be but other than that it was bloddy awesome! Tones, timing, licks... great stuff!
Rick Well matey! Considering all the computer crap you have had and all the knock back which would have put off most mere mortals... I think you captured the essence quite bloody well! Man you squeezed a lot in! Started off like Hendrix by Van Halen! Cool indeed!
So..... who to vote for! Blimey! Rob? Traditional Hendrix playing and pretty darned good? Lyle? Traditional start then guitar craziness? perhaps that is how hendrix would have developed? less rough but with pinched harmonic screams and tapping? or Rick? In between traditional and EVH style but with an authentic air and a load of feeling about it?? Bugger! I'll think on!
Nice one though guys!
Farl

They were all pretty awesome if you ask me!! Decisions decisions eh...
I have to go with Rick i think - it had the authentic squealy Hendrix groove about it!! :worthy:
why cheers doug, you know i have to thank farl lyle and rob for getting into the spirit of it all.
please remember we only do this stuff for the crack, non of it is serious at all.
purely and simply for the love of playing.
if you didn't join in, then why not? it doesn't have to be a perfect rendition just do what i did, figure out roughly whats going on then turn the gain to 12 :-D and beat the living daylights out of it.
i've voted farl btw,
robs was just about spot on, and i love how lyle translates singing into guitar, its a gift for sure.
but farls just ruled for whatever reason.

Just like what I did!
Everyone's was brilliant, but I had to go for Farl. The only thing I didn't like was the effects on the vocals (but no-one likes their own voice, so it's understandable).
Great little challenge, wish we had more participants but oh well,
Rick, great version of stone free you put your own slant on it and just went for it some great improv parts too, nice to here you playing again hope to hear more.
Farl, you really captured the hendrix vibe on this track lovely tone and playing you get extra points for singing too one of my favourite Hendrix songs.
Lyle you get my vote on this one as it was just bloody awesome, love the way you used the lead to produce the vocal part and also loved the way you ripped up the solo and made the track your own.

Great work guys! Everyone did very well and a shout out for Farl's vocals. They really seemed to blend well.
Sorry I was not able to put forth an effort. Things have been crazy for me. Hoping it smooths out though.

Well.... Thanks for the votes so far guys!! Ha! Most unexpected but I shall be eternally grateful!!
After a day to mull it over... I've got to go with my heart and say... Lyle!! That was the one that I played more than the other two so... real sorry Rob and Rick, I loved yours too but I had to pick one and it was real close! Wish there had been more to make the choice even tougher but hey... next time fella's!
Anyhow, Nice one Lyle!
