Hi All,
I have a Boss GT-6, but I can barely use it. I'm a bit of a techno-phobe. What I need to know (in this instance) is:
Can I create a sound patch that drops my tuning by, say, 2 notes (using the pitch shift parameter), with the original signal level at zero and the effected level at max, so that only the de-tuned signal comes out?
Thanks,
Roj

You can ....but there will be a slight delay that you might not like....and you'll definitely sound very muddy...

Tried it last night. Just like you said - it worked, but the delay from striking the string to the sound coming out is too much to bear.
I actually have a confession to make - Roj is actually my guitarist. I'm Mark, his bass player. I joined here on his behalf cos he's such a technophobe. I'm asking questions to help him get his gear sorted out.
I feel bad for deceiving folk, but we needed help. Can I still stay?

oh go on then :)
do you want me to change your name to mark?
That's typical that is! You just find a decent piece of real estate then the bass players move in and property values go through the floor :(
Only joking Roj/Mark - welcome to the forum :D
The delay is a bugger, I have it on my guitar synth as well, on the lower strings. Rick, you have one of them fancy Line6 all things to all men guitars don't you - does the detuning work on those? I was thinking about getting one of the cheapo £300 jobs and putting the electrics into a decent body and use it for slide. Would be nice to have different tunings to hand.
hmmm it's a sore point ron!
i bought a thing called workbench for my variax! because im to lazy to keep tuning the thing!
all the factory presets work fine but when i tried to create ggdgbd listen to the result!

im currently just discussing the problem on the line6 forum!
my variax is an old one by the way which is possibly the cause of the problem!
i believe the variax 300 has the same electronics as the rest though its just the guitar thats junk!

Rick, could you change my username to Phaedrus?
I think Roj might just have to get a 7-string, even as a second guitar. We do cover a few "nu-metal" tracks (I hate that term, but that's whet they're called, eh?), but more than that, we want to accomodate our singer's range. He has a great voice, and he's a good mate (we're not into the, "if you want to make it, you have to dump your mates and be ruthless" thing - we don't want to make it - we want to have fun and do a few gigs), but he struggles on some notes (eg Bono's 2nd "feel" in the chorus of Vertigo).
It'd give us a lot of versatility if he got a 7. I already play a 5-string bass which is great for when we have to transpose down.
Has anyone played or heard anything on these?

I know it's a no-brand cheapo, but he already has an Ibanez Prestige (as discussed separately), and plans to get an ESP EC-1000 this year too. It'd be handy if he got the 7-string before the ESP (if I can persuade him to get one   )
