Well, you guys know I did the Warmoth guitar. I want only the best for this one so I even went as far as ordering a custom strap from a lady in Australia. She finished it last night and sent it out this morning. I should have it in about a week or so. Anyway, here she is.

thats pretty neat mully, its never ceases to amaze me the cottage industry that can grow up around a product.

Damn, man, it's funny you should say that because when I was going over designs with her I told her the colors I wanted and that with the overall design I wanted "The guitar strap Clint Eastwood would have used in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly".
HA!!

well looks like you got it Mully
It's not really to my taste but the quality and craftsmanship looks superb. I'm sure you'll get a lot of pleasure out of it.

Actually, Six, this is what I wanted

But it was custom made for some guy in Sydney and she wouldn't repeat it. That Cobra skin in the triangles and up the sides is pretty bold.

Got too appreciate the skills, and indeed the animals, that went into making that. Like Six it's not really my kinda thing to use, but it still looks great.

The strap arrived today. My first impression "God damn that thing is ultra wide!" It almost looks like a strap for a bass. Any of you guys use a wide strap?
Side by side with my standard Levy's strap (which I've been content with on this guitar)

Lined up together on the side. Man, this thing is "Uber Vide"

very nice reminds me of the wild west, you just need a six shooter hanging off that and you are ready to go.
If you dont mind me asking how much would something like that cost?

I'm almost embarrassed to say. $350.00 Australian. The yen is really strong against the Aussie dollar at the moment so it actually worked out fairly well. Only a little more than a good leather strap off the shelf would cost. And, it's the only one in the world so I can't really complain.

Oh yeah, day and night as far as the design goes. What happened was that I just told her things like "I like brown, I don't like shiny leather, I like brass rivets, snakeskin, cow hair etc..." and I let her go at it. She threw me a design, I looked at it, made a few suggestions and she went back to the drawing board. Sent me another sample and I approved. Her sample was a computer drawing. In my mind I was expecting something a touch different on those stripes running up the sides. I wanted something more.....I don't even know how to explain it. I have a cue case here made out of buffalo hide that I love. I wanted it more like that. It's cool though. I like this one just fine.
As for the price, it came up to about 20,000 yen, give or take a few. Man, a good Levy's strap would have been anywhere between 10 and 13 thousand yen. This one was a little more expensive but considering it's the only one like it in the universe, the extra was well worth it......and it really wasn't that much more. Hell, my wife and I can kill 10,000 going out for dinner and stopping by the supermarket on the way home.
