Hey Guys,
I think i've posted a similar thread but i couldn't find it so here's a new one! Haha!
Basically...i'm after a distortion pedal but i'm on a budget. I'm trying to really polish Sweet Child O Mine so i would like something that would give me a similar tone to Slash.
I've been looking at £20+ Behringer pedals, £30+ Digitech pedals and also £40+ Marshall pedals. I really like the look and sound of the Marshall pedals and being Marshall...i know i'm getting quality!
Can i get your thoughts and opinions please guys?
Cheers.

You can't go far wrong with either a Guv'nor or a Rat (or Rat 2). The Rats my favourite of all time, they're awesome :D

Yeah, the Guv'nor might do it for you. Also, on the intro, make sure you're using your front pickup.

I think i'm gonna get a Marshall Guvnor plus 2.
Mully...you mean use the neck pick up for the intro? I know that! :) lol!

Ok guys i need your help!
I got the Guvnor pedal tonight. I'm running it into a Line 6 Spider 3 15 amp and i want to use my VOX wah pedal aswell.
Can anyone tell me how to hook all this up? I've tried doing it...but when i play my amp on the clean channel...i thought that by stomping on my Guvnor ...that would take me to a much heavier tone??
I'm trying to play Sweet Child O Mine with it...and i thought that i played on the clean channel on my amp and used the Guvnor...i'd get the neck pickup type sound in order to go into the bridge...but i don't! All i get is a slightly heavier clean channel!
Can anyone tell me where im going wrong??
does it have a gain control?
i know nothing about them tbh

That makes 2 of us Rick! I'm a complete newbie when it comes to pedals! Don't know anything!
My pedal has a gain control yeah. My amp has: Drive, Bass, Mid, Treble & Channel Volume.

See before i got the pedal...i used to play the song on my "Insane" channel on my amp...its the closest sounding to the actual song...but i need a clean channel to do the verse bits in the song...but then need the heavier sounding tone like i use in the intro...if that makes sense??
insane is just that, you won't get that much more gain out of a pedal.

I know Rick but all im saying is that before the distortion pedal i used the insane channel on my amp cos its the closest sound to the song itself.

maybe a foot switch for the amp would have been the option to get

I've seen it on Youtube where people go from a clean tone and then with one stomp of their overdrive pedal...get a much heavier tone??

it's all dependent on the pedal. Some pedals have more gain than others.

Lyle ive heard this pedal on Youtube...you can get some really nice fat Les Paul tones out of it. All im getting at the moment is louder and more fuzzy clean tones!

Do you guys understand what i'm tryin to do? I just don't know where i'm going wrong! It's like i need something to switch my amp between Clean and Insane just at the right moment...so i can go from the verse into the bridge on SCOM?

How do you have the pedal set?

I've just thought...i don't think an overdrive pedal was the thing to get...i think i needed a footswitch...because i need to change from "Insane" to "Clean". :(

I told you that in the other thread  your amp has all you need built in, you just need a footswitch
You didn't really need to get a pedal. Set your bridge pickup vol low it will clean up the sound and have neck pup on full so when comes to clean parts simply flick between pickups.
Very strange all the same that you are not getting overdrive tones via your clean channel. Would be interesting to hear a clip/and see. I reckon there is a cabling or user error at play as you should be able to get a nice sound. But that aside you did not need a pedal.
Of course if you don't clean up as much as you would like by rolling bck volume then give me a shout...I have a satchurator for sale that has hardly been used.
