I've been in the market for a good, small tube combo amp for a while, checking out the Egnaters and Blackstars...all nice amps, but just missing something IMHO. I've long been a fan of Mesa Boogie gear, so I've been monitoring ebay for any MB combo bargains to be had...after 3 frustrating last minute losses (2 for DC-3's, one for a Studio .22), I finally got lucky with this little guy here!
The specs:
Mesa Boogie Subway Rocket Reverb
20 watts, two EL84 power tubes and four 12AX7 pre-amp tubes
Black Tolex with a tan jute grille and leather corners
10" Mesa Vintage Black Shadow speaker
Two channel amp with three modes: clean, lead, and contour (all footswitchable)
Both channels have volume and gain controls, with master bass, mid, treble, and presence controls
4 and 8 ohm speaker outs, headphone/record out, and effects loop with mix pot
I checked out a few YouTube demos online, and this puppy can put out some monster tones. I should get it in about 2 weeks - can't wait to mic it up and do some recording!!
