Is it only me or seems too good to be true. Surely what is going in ie. origianl pickup will set limitations on what the liberator will do??

Stupid me this is only to make new pickup change easier in other words less need for a tech.

Thing is most people will change pickups once maybe 2x. Once to put new ones in newly acquired guitar and a 2nd time to change back to originall spec and most will sell those pickups they took out and sell guitar as is. So I wonder now how this is going to comapre with the cost of a soldering iron, or a mate or a tech ?

I have some Di-Marzio pickups and surrounds that were briefly trialled in the 70's. you fit the pup surround through the body and wire it up as you would do normally. The pup itself then plugs into the surround, from the back of the guiter, and away you go. They did a small range of alterante pups that you could swap over in a jiffy. I got them from my local guitar shop for an absolute steal. It would involve quite a bit of carpentry to retro-fit them to an existing guitar. For a new build it would be pretty easy. Sadly they stopped making them and I only ever got the one set of buckers which kinda makes them a bit of waste without anything to swap into their place. Shame it didn't catch on with the manufacturers, although I think they saw lost sales when you could potentialy have a single guitar with any pup configuration.

I think I'd rather stick to good old lead based solder although it's getting harder to get these days.

I have had way too many small wire clamping screws come loose on stuff you really don't want it happening with.
