I was wondering I'm pretty sure just about everybody on here will use or have used the likes of kazza or emule or whatever.

do you think this is wrong and do you ever buy cd's if you like what you hear.

I do use Kazaa some times just for the spare of the moment sort of things or if I need something quickly, but it does ruin the music industry I suppose!

I use Napster where you pay £10 a month and you can download as much as you want to your hard drive but not to disk. So I listen to all the new albums and just but the ones I like.

I use limewire, it might be wrong, but I'm 16 with no job, I can't afford cd's, I can't even afford my own pedal.

I use Limewire for normal files then shareaza for bittorrent. I d/l quite a lot of music, but i also buy CD's so its not like im ripping off the industry......too much anyway. Some of the music what I d/l you cant even buy anymore anyway, so I do feel im slightly justified in that sense, I couldn't find Alcatrazz no parole from rock an roll anywhere, so I d/l'd that ( i suppose i could have imported it tho).

I use bittorrent to d/l mainly TV programs, but i also like to buy the boxsets when they come out.

To me it doesn't feel like im ripping anyone off, I listen to loads more music as a result of having the internet, and i do buy their CD's too, so I believe that d/l actully helps the music industry as long as you dont take advantage, which sadly is what many people do.

I use WinMx to check out albums or films I am thinking of buying, Then delete the files after i have made my decision, exept where some, are very old songs that I would struggle to find and are probably out of copywrite anyway. on the whole I would say I disagree with piracy but find file sharing has its uses

Been downloading a fair bit using limewire for learning purposes...but when I looked earlier tonight what I've downloaded i actually have on disc but just couldn't be bothered going next door to my CD collection... I really should rip my CDs to hard drive instead... but yeah I prefer to have the original with the wee leaflet to read that makes it more special and i believe the artist is entitled to their full PAYCHECK...how would you feel is someone took a chunk out of yours each week!!!

I use kazaa to check out music...if its a good album I will buy it. If its crap or has one ok song I don't need to buy the whole CD. I also support bands that I like by going to concerts and getting some merchandise.

I use winmx but, buy about 5 albums a month plus I have spent about ?????????500 this year alone on concerts, festivals and merchandise! The winmx files are generally to check out something I have not heard before like Satriani playing with Deep Purple would you believe!

Satriani with Deep Purple, Farley that sounds interesting what track was that? I got a Satiani one the other night called 7 string never seen any mention of it in any CD tracks. Up till recently bought about 5 DVD /month we now have a yellow sign outside our door and strangers come round with wee cards to take away discs for a few evenings LOL

I've used WinMx in past - just for odd tracks, but always felt guilty! Anything I like, I buy the CD, or recently started buying tracks & albums to download - only problem being there is much choice for older stuff. I always buy the stuff for bands/artist i really like.

Another thought - as an old fogey, I've got lots of vinyl stuff - and have replaced lots with CD's - so am paying twice. Maybe ripping off the odd track, or blagging someones CD is okay occasionally?
