I think I got it just want to make sure and not give away too much does the artist play a Strat and have the same real first name as me?

Six
11-04-2006, 06:35 AM
Sorry, but no. At least, no to his name being the same as yours. He may well have used a strat at one time or another.

OK clue 1) The band is a trio

siN
11-04-2006, 07:03 AM
Still no lightbulb...

Time for a cryptic clue... we've got to keep this going somehow so here it is:-

Despite one members surname, he is not a primate!

ZappaFan
11-04-2006, 01:34 PM
Think they are all pulling your chain here SizWheels. So i will put you out of your misery, no clue need for me I got this right away. It would be ZZ Top, Rough Boy. The cryptic clue you gave of course refers to the superb and much underated and underheard Billy Gibbons.

siN
11-04-2006, 03:06 PM
OK Zap, you're on!

Eliminator is in my collection, Afterburner unfortunately not....

Six
11-04-2006, 04:25 PM
Absolutely correct Mr Fan...lol... so as siN said above... it's your turn!

Stew
02-05-2006, 09:05 PM
Zap are you going to post something for us to guess or do you need some more time?

ZappaFan
03-05-2006, 02:11 PM
Sorry Stew forgot all about this. Will try and do something this evening.

ZappaFan

Oops sorry I wont be able to ...... It's TEGAS night !!! So tomorrow then

siN
07-06-2006, 10:06 PM
Ok... Zap is probably still on Tegas night....

And I've just got 8 seconds to record this....

It is just a bit of a famous song of a famous record from this famous heavy metal band...
The song and the record have the same name...

Let's hear your calls....!

Six
07-06-2006, 10:16 PM
Iron Maiden.... too easy....lol

Rick
07-06-2006, 10:17 PM
your turn phil..

stevedak
08-06-2006, 03:35 AM
Iron Maiden, yes...but isn't the song "Die With Your Boots On"?

Six
08-06-2006, 12:44 PM
Actually Steve, I think you are absolutely correct.

The odd thing is, there isn't a record of the same name, hence my error.

Oh well, over to you then Steve...

siN
08-06-2006, 08:32 PM
Iron Maiden, yes...but isn't the song "Die With Your Boots On"?

No, it's not correct the correct song (or my playing was too bad....).

After the last F chord, the G and A will follow and going up to a C.... Then there's an other solo (which I can't play off course.... :D ).

Six
09-06-2006, 09:19 AM
Got it.... Number of the beast.

stevedak
09-06-2006, 05:21 PM

siN
09-06-2006, 08:31 PM
Got it.... Number of the beast.

Yep... very good....

Last week it was the sixth of the sixth of the sixth, so I really got into playing the Number of the Beast album. It was really nice to hear those old tunes again.

So, it's your turn!

siN
09-06-2006, 08:32 PM
..the sixth of the sixth of the sixth....

6 june '06

Six

Okay, here's one for you... it's a bit tricky this one so the clip contains two short sections of the song to help you, one from near the beginning and one from about half way through.

siN
10-06-2006, 06:51 AM
Listened it about 10 times. A bit from the 2nd half sounded to me like "Liberty" from Steve Vai, but it really isn't that....

No clue. It is nog in my collection what I've heard so far...

Six
10-06-2006, 09:02 AM
A little clue for you... this guitarist has previously played in a duet with Jason Becker.

siN
10-06-2006, 08:36 PM
So that would have been Marty Friedman.

I can't remember hearing such passages at his "Dragon's Kiss" album...

Six
13-06-2006, 12:07 PM
Correct artist and correct again... it's not from Dragon's Kiss.

siN
13-06-2006, 08:12 PM
Is it from his time with Megadeth?

I only know the tune "Peace sells, but who's buying"... And that's not what you've played. That was before Friedman...

Six
13-06-2006, 09:58 PM
No, it's from one of his five solo albums, but I'm not telling you which one...lol
